Please don't download the version if you have device with other than G4 processor. This version requires AltiVec. It is bug which will be fixed soon. I changed MOS SDK 1.0 to 2.0 and didn't know that AltiVec is default. New version will be released as soon as possible. Sorry for the problem...

What do you mean? Nothing in the SDK should implicitly use AltiVec, and if Fortis has some AltiVec code it should be runtime-selected with a check.

I used the same makefile in Fortis 1.1 and 1.2. Version 1.1 was compiled with MOS SDK 1.0 and doesn't required AltiVec. In version 1.2 I used MOS SDK 2.0 and... the binary requires AltiVec. :)

I have no experience in the issue (laaame) and I have PegasosG4 so the problem wasn't visible for me. :)

Ok, problem has already been fixed. New version which works on hardware without AltiVec is available on Encore Games' website.

I am sorry for the problem and wish everyone great fun (if possible with the Fortis, hehe). :)

Thank you for information and suggestions:
    Ingo, Sergio, Rzookol, Fab.

Special thanks to KRASHAN for help and support.

Hello! Thank you for the information. I've already tested on Pegasos2 G4 with AltiVec disabled in OpenFirmware. Now I know that the game works on real Efika. :) Thanks!

I don't understand why the Mac OSX version is Intel only. If it runs on MorphOS - which is PPC - then couldn't the Mac version also be compiled to run on PPC?

Fortis for MacOSX is Intel only because the game is available on the Mac App Store. Apple no longer supports PowerPC processors (MacOS Snow Leopard 10.6.x, Lion 10.7 and next). Each application in the Mac App Store has to be only for Intel. This is a necessary condition. I had to removed from MacOSX SDL universal parts because first auto-review didn't accept the application.

I didn't know the App Store didn't accept universal applications. That sucks. So that means that Apple is deliberately screwing PPC users - forcing programmers to strip PPC support from their programs.

That explains why Warblade too is now Intel only.

PowerPC for Apple is like 680x0 for us (MorphOS users). We would like to use only for PowerPC applications. Apple is able to do it so they are doing it. :)

  • You guys should really improve Fortis controls for the iPhone. The game is actually impossible to play...
It's a shame because it's a game with amazing visuals.

A lot of people finished Fortis on iPhone, iPod touch, iPad. :) It is typical control on touch screen (look at for example Minigore, iDracula). :)

I think you should focus on next projects. We have several better ideas and two of these we are creating. With better control. :)

No it's not? I've purchased the Mac version 1.3 for $5,99 just yesterday and it came as an universal binary (PPC and x86). Not from the appstore of course, but from the authors website.

The latest Mac version is 1.4. This and all future Mac versions will be Intel only.
