Release of MorphOS 2.6 & Introduction of Power Mac SupportThe MorphOS development team is proud to announce the public release of MorphOS 2.6 introducing support of Power Mac G4 systems. In addition to the extended hardware support, existing users will benefit from various bug fixes and a few new features. For an overview of the included changes, please read our release notes.

We strongly urge owners of Power Mac computers to carefully read our installation and troubleshoot guides before they attempt to install MorphOS for the first time. Existing users can upgrade via the familiar procedure but are encouraged to read the guides as well. MorphOS 2.6 is available for download in our files section.

    Thanks for the great work!!!
I was worried that you woulden't release 2.6 befor the Meeting in Bad Bramstedt. But now everything is fine.
What is new in OWB 1.10?

    > Wow! No wonder irc has been so quiet lately..

I don't use IRC but when some two weeks ago Itix said on the MorphOS mailing list that it was too late to fix a certain bug in 2.6 I knew the release was imminent.
Now let's see how the amount of MorphOS users increases with the new PowerMac G4 support :-)

Why not risk a look into the OWB readme? :)

Yup. I picked up on that also, hence my spidey-sense was tingling. ;-)
Guess it takes a couple of weeks of testing the finalised ISO for installation issues.

Thanks MorphOS Team, you've done it again :-D
Now I just need to find 111 Euros for a second license. I wonder who'll get the 1000th user license...

After a flawless install onto my Peg2 and Mac Mini, I'm have a bit of trouble with my Peg1-

On my Peg1 with a small boot partition, and a separate ICE formated system disk, it doesn't seem to be updating the actual bootpeg1.img/boot.img

Tried replacing the ice formats with standard sfs ones, now does not loadwb asking for z.library 51 or higher
Has anyone else had any problems with Peg1?

Edited again to add: Got it working! Not quite sure what happened there... I think I may test to see if I can get it working with ICEFS..

MorphOS installer never copies the boot.img to non sys: partitions beside on Mac systems where its copied to hfs parttition.

If you have the boot.img on a separate partition you must copy it by hand from sys:boot.img to the desired drive after installation or your system will fail booting on reboot.

Thanks for the update and keep up the good work! I noticed I seem to have a much sharper image with my mini connected to a Philips LCD TV...
I hope that now focus will be on the PowerBooks G4! :-P

I think you can boot from the iso file directly. Extract the boot.img from the iso and put it to your boot partition (but *keep* your old boot.img as long as the update is not finished!) and put the iso just somewhere.
Enter OF and type boot boot26.img bi="DH?:MorphOS-2.6.iso"
That one should boot right off the iso w/o the need of a cdr.
Alternatively you should be able to boot off a usb stick. Just extract the iso to a usb pen, put the boot.img to boot: and enter
boot boot26.img bi="usbscsi0:" (or what ever device name your usb pen gets).

Note: I got trouble to do it that way on my mini. OF syntax seems to be quite different on Mac in comparision to Peg/Efika. I was not even able to even get a list of the disk with my Peg/Efika based knowledge of the OF. Default boot path links here to a firewire-device, only the macboot command starts the boot process...

    devalias command lists all devices.
Boot hd:\boot.img rd bi=DH3:MorphOS.iso. This will boot MorphOS on a Mac Mini, for Power Mac you might want to change "hd" to something diffrent. Note that boot.img should be the same like the one inside ISO.

I've downloaded it and installed it on my G4 800MHz Powermac and on first sight I'm very impressed. I'm normally an OS4 user and I've been waiting for this release for ages.
So far, I'm certainly not disappointed.

    @Thread

I just stuck the MorphOS 2.6 install CD that I burned into my old 400 MHz PowerMac G4 and after holding the left alt to get it to recognize the CD, it booted, installed and ran flawlessly. I now have a new computer that really didn't cost me anything.

The friend that gave me the old PowerMac was impressed too. (He stood there and watched as I did the install!)
