19/08/03: MPlayer for MorphOS released !

BugFix Released at 18:08 GMT, 13:08 EST.

Hey MorphOS fan !
You've just got a new video player :-).
Well, it's not "new". It's the port of MPlayer (well-known Linux media player)
for MorphOS. Nearly all the features of the original version have been ported like
(S)VCD support, DVD...

(Click Image for a larger screenshot.)

A lot of optimization and changes has been done to "boost" it :

- use asyncio.library
- native AHI sound driver (device or library)
- native CyberGraphX driver (can use overlay, direct vmem acces or WPA).
- native timing routine
- optimized and fixed YUV -> RGB routine
- optimized and fixed (when possible) OSD routine
- Patched input routine
- ...

So download and enjoy !

fixed a few minutes after the first version has
been uploaded and therefore the archiv was

Just noticed that MPlayer plays video from QT files fine, but does not play the audio at all. Same QT file works with Frogger.

There was a last minut bug when you force the video mode to VMEM
(CGX_MODE=VMEM) and the movie needs scaling.

In this case, MPlayer refused to to anything, now it display the file
    without scaling)

    Hi,

Just tested the thing and it runs fine: well done !

However I have found some problems (bugs ?):

.When playing a QT video, switching to fullscreen causes the program
to hang after opening a black screen.

.CGX_MODE=VMEM is slow: if I move a window (even a small one) around
the Ambient screen, it causes the video to slow down. (This does not
    happen with CGX_MODE=WPA)

.You cannot run multiple sessions of mplayer: only one will run at
full speed. (with Frogger, I can have up to three videos playing at
once and at full speed, depending on the video (352x288 MPEG files
    for ex.))

Anyway, keep up good work !

    Leo.

    PS: I was using MOS1.3/Radeon7500

Seems have some bugs with tooltypes, dvd and others... and could be

good make a reimplementation of the original skin system used in linux by

example, and can make our own skins for mplayer...

A new maintainer of this port ?
