Software : : Atlantis Update

The project is not halted, but instead on hold. Ali Akcaagac has been placed in an unfortunate situation due to the process of developer board distribution. During the interim, Ali is in contact with the AWeb team, who will also attempt to port KHTML to Amiga/MorphOS. Due to certain restrictions, the port of Atlantis itself will be on hold.

    [Edit Note by Bifford]
For those continually refreshing MZone this is my 3rd Edit. Each is supposed to have remained neutral and the first two kinda failed. Hopefully this one succeeds. As I mention: I do not know the details of this wrangle and as such maybe I should only ever have written the first bit of the comment (to targhan). Anyway, I have come to the conclusion that both sides got unnecassarily agitated out of proportion, and said things that maybe they regret.

    [End Edit Note]

oGALAXYo & Targhan (and all reading this: )

(first bit mainly for Targhan, Second bit for oGALAXYo ;)

One thing I've learnt is that if the actions are outside of your control or even nothing to do with you then Never Ever appologize for the results.

As webmaster and newsmaster you have performed an action that must be done lest anyone get hurt/insulted. This is as should be.

oGALAXYo should never have sworn in a public mail and really should not have named names, though I can understand why he would! (I may have named someone who offended me as well in his place though it still would not have been right to do so).

    ------------------------

oGALAXYo AND anonymos person:- To reiterate I do not know the full details of this but surely something can be worked out and things ammended and the relationship between both sides mended?

MOS would surely loose out through your leaving and not codeing your program (but it may not, I do not know). Ultimately the choice is yours but I feel that any extra programs/standards are a benefit but people have to get along with others if they are to get anywhere in this world/system.

I urge both sides to appologize to each other and to get back on good terms.

All the best in whatever you do.

    Sam Byford.

Thanks Bifford. I still dislike posting news of this nature. Unfortunately, I happened to be there during the exchange. So, I need to remind everyone that this is only one perspective. And yes, perspective does matter. I'm not trying to discredit anyone, just stating that when tempers flare, there is a perspective issue.

I see this from multiple perspectives. And even after this unfortunate, ah, er, meeting of the minds, I see no reason to take sides... Anyway, it is tough to send a board when on vacation (as has been explained quite a few times). I'm not saying the outcome of such an arrangement should hang in peril because of a one-month absence, but with only so many people around - all with big workloads - there was probably no suitable replacement to assume the responsibility of tracking, procuring, and shipping boards.

If people want to take a chill pill, I'm still doing what I can to get boards flowing again for such projects.

And who thought that port will be done ? Don't want to sound negative, but speaking instead of installing uae and trying to do some example programing for aos api are different things.

C'mon guys, cut Ali some slack. Porting of KHTML is going to be difficult. Unfortunately, there were some issues in the process of getting a developer board into his hands. He was feeling quite frustrated when he asked me to post the news item. I really don't blame him for being aggrivated. On the other hand, I really want to see another good browser on the platform.

I don't think porting a project the size of a browser can successfully be accomplished through the use of UAE. Let's just hope that everything will straighten out soon. In the meantime, just show Ali some support.
