Heh, I think we should buy him his own pizzeria before he even considers porting it ;-)

i don't see the point in harassing bigfoot to port a game that won't run at more than 15fps on any current morphOS hardware.
    And this game sucks anyway.

Then let's harass the other MorphOS Team members to port MorphOS to faster hardware first ;-)

True. The source code will not be released before October anyway. And I hope that a MorphOS 2.8 with PowerBook support will come with R300 3D drivers.

"MorphOS 2.8 will be updated with support for R300 drivers (9600 and above) with full 3d layers/acceleration and powerbook support!"

So R300 3D drivers in MorphOS 2.8 are confirmed now? (And btw, R300 starts with 9500).

MorphOS 3D-drives and TinyGL don't support pixel/vertex shaders so... No shaders, no Doom3. :(

    >doom 3 is a fantastic game

Eh, I pre-ordered it and was disappointed by the game play (the graphics look great btw).

    >MorphOS 3D-drives and TinyGL don't support pixel/vertex shaders so... No shaders, no Doom3. :(

    Probably true

    >It's not something that can be turned off ?

I can't remember, but you'd likely reduce the fps rate significantly.

On a final note, with r300 drivers, some of our hardware could run the game.
G5 and R400 support would help assure it. ;)

Isn't the latter the real issue here?

Yes Bigfoot or whoever is up for it should start porting it. Urgent?, no not at all.

Why? First there has to be worked on the OS to make it work and that's a good thing because it will be more advanced afterwards.
Second: How many software houses are actually releasing their sourcecode ? If you want them to keep doing that, at least someone should do something with it.

Anyway, if you liked Doom, Doom2, Quake and so on ... what can be wrong with this one ? Shoot to kill not ?

only a question to the experts:
MorphOS 3D-drives and TinyGL don't support pixel/vertex shaders

is possible enable it on future releases for exaple MorphOS 3.x? I think MorphOS with this feature can give a good kick ass to AmigaOS 4.x...

Gallium drivers support everything on a graphics card. Shaders included.

Now who took away my un-smiley face?! Can't a guy express his discontentment here? :)

Anyhow, I was kind of hoping for such features with the new graphics related upgrades that we're supposed to be getting from MorphOS 3.0.

As for competing with OS 4 and the like...

...I'd really hope to see more cooperation between the different Work Bench alternative as opposed to competition.

    Oh! I was wondering! :)

Shouldn't we have at least 3 threads pertaining to the DOOM 3 source code? I mean it is part 3 and not part 2 after all!

Ya... come to think of it, I recall downloading a stripped down version of Quake 3 once that was reworked to work on low end machines...

It looked horrible, but ya, it did play.
