I'm working on this little app. It supports betascan drivers. After finishing it i'm going to port betascan drivers to morphos and port up-to-date scanners frontends from SANE. This soft is in early beta form :)

    small update:

    http://brain.umcs.lublin.pl/~rzookol/download/muiscan.lha

    - small gui fix
    - preview class rewritten, drawing frame should be fast now

    For 2.x users:
betascan drivers are linked with unix.lib and uses PIPE: for something :), morphos 2.0 2.1 2.2 queue.handler has problem with it and file from 1.4.5 should be used. Afaik in morphos 2.3 queue.handler is fixed.

This program was tested on my Umax Astra 1200S Scanner and it works. I would be
very helpful if You could test it on Yours scanners and (if doesn't work but works in fxscan/betascan) paste here or mail me log.

How about Firewire scanners? Can you intergrate Yomgui's morph fw drivers for use with the SANE drivers or is it usb only?

Changing the device and scanner driver has no effect. Which would be required for testing usb scanning.

Also saving seems to fail as your application has no MUIA_Application_Name define, so mui stores preferences as "unnamed.prefs".

Betascan is port of old SANE drivers so SCSI only (with exception of EpsonUSB).
I have to port betascan to morphos (is written in SASC 68k) first.

    Hello,

just trioed muiscan with Epson Perfection 1650 via usb.
With fxScan it works fine now (usbraw.device and
    EpsonUSB.device from betascan).

Muiscan just starts scanning but displays nothing on the screen
    and than freezes.

No information orintd out on shell.

But anyway, cool, that that someone will build
    a new scanning Software.

    Hello,

if you have a Epson Perfection with USB working with fxScan
you already have the betascan driver (called EpsonUsb.device).

    It was included with fxScan

Do You have morphos update installed ? MUI Scan uses png.library and jfif.library. IFF Deep saver doesn't require anything.

ps. I uploaded last version to aminet and my homepage yesterday.

Does this mean there is hope that I could use the scanner portion of my HP Officejet J4550 All-In-One printer from my Efika running MorphOS2.2?

    That would be cool!

Even better if all the functions of my printer could be used from MorphOS, but I must be dreaming.

    @rzookol,
I'm afraid that I don't quite know how to get muiscan going. I have an old Mustek 1200 UB PLUS which seems to be supported by Sane but
    1) Where do you get the drivers? (found betescan on aminet)
    2) how do you install drivers and program ( I through it in dev/dosdrivers)
3)How do you get poseidon to recognize the scanner as a device
    4) when exe muiscan device: (mounted scanner)?
    5)Scannerdriver: (found in dev)?

Lastly is this program used in conjunction with another, or stand alone?

poseidon states: full speed under state- ?running, class- wrench with word vender and none under binding
    Thanks!!
