    Does anybody plan to bring MorphOS to AmiWest 2009 and what do you plan to show off?

    From the now locked topic:
    Quote:

    I already have my 1.5GHz G4 PPC MacMini (so no need to send me one) and plans to attend AmiWest again this year with my Efika running what ever the current version of MorphOS is at that time, but I would love to show a beta of MorphOS3.0 on my MacMini at the show if the public release is not finished yet.

    I'll certainly volunteer to show either a beta of 3.0, or the real thing in finished form at AmiWest 2009.

    Tim & Chris are you ready for another road trip? Maybe we will take Tim's car this time (and I promise not to take it off-roading and hit any rocks this time). ;-)

    Looks like about 500 licenses are sold so far at say 150 EUR a pop means Ralph Schmidt has taken in 75,000 EUR which is getting close to $100,000 USD. After deductions for used Mac hardware and such I'd think the MorphOS Team can easily afford to make a showing at AmiWest 2009. So how about it?

    @ssolie,

    Why ask the question and then include a quote of my post that answers your question clearly that at least one person (me) will be at AmiWest 2009 with my Efika running what ever the current release of MorphOS is at the time of the show, AND my G4 PPC MacMini IF (big if) there is any release to the public of MorphOS3.0 by that time.

    If your question was only intended for the MOS dev team you should have clarified that in the question.

    Then you again bring up the topic of money and what the "Team" can or cannot do with it, which is none of your business. Why do you continue to make these lame attempts to start trouble here? Have you nothing better to do with your time?

    Perhaps you could come to Europe to watch it in action, you could easily afford a cheap flight. You could get the money selling that useful "Panda" board that you have somewhere

    You, me, and *everyone else* clearly sees why he is here and what he is doing. I think it's pretty lame to be honest.

    The "MorphOS 2.0 under development" was publicly demonstrated running on the Efika at several shows *long* before it was released. This time it looks like a "No".

    Wonder why?
    MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)

    Are yoy some kind of moron or what? Why in earth would any morphos team member come to a shoddy Amiga show? That show was PITA 5 years ago, when amiga ppl were still around wtf would make anyone believe it would be more than 20ppl max there? Its far from an "Amiga show" more like a user group meeting.

    AND I EXPECT YOU TO MAKE A SIMILAR POST ON AW.NET AND AORG ABOUT AMIGA INC BEING THERE.

    But you wont do that you retard will you?

    Maybe because MorphOS could show the evolution of Amiga spirit?!?
    According to my point of view, that spirit seems to be lacking from too much time... And maybe it won't be anymore..
    Or maybe because it could show everybody things are going on and evolve more and more...
    Or maybe just for fun!!!
    Well, my 2 euro-cents ;-)

    @ssolie:

    Dollars, Euros, Yen or whatelse kind of money..... What all of that could change your life?
    Emphasizing the money issue all the time makes all the threads annoying...
    Would you try to kindly invite team members to AmiWest and ask directly to them about
    the money problem, drinking something alltogether?
    It could be the right occasion to speak with them personally and deepen this complex topic.
    Considering they all have family, lives, works and so on of course and so they couldn't come there...

    'sup ssolie,
    as far as amiwest goes amigadave's report indicates it was a good turn out not 20 or so. Usually these functions draw alot of support form the community. I remember 5-7 years ago when software hut did an open house for their store in Pa. USA. It drew a decent size crowd, I remember seeing the amigaone there for the first time. I also remember the amigaeast show in MD USA around the same time frame and it was huge. The point....I didn't recall seing MorphOs in action at either event. If MorphOs was represented, then I might have been turned to it much sooner than last year. afaik amigadave represented for morphos last year on his then new efika, but would much rather support in the form of programmers or more experienced users to display morphos capabilities. Not being present to display the alternative perspective, look, and feel further perpetuates the concept of the hobbie OS and adds to the shroud of secrecy which is MorphOs. I was always a diehard AOS user simply because I knew not what morphOS was, but in retrospect, I was ignorant, but then there are others still out there. the conclusion is we benefit further with promotion. For the record I finally made the leap of faith through a.org/aw.net with the mention of the os on new hardware, and haven't looked back since.
    purely opinionative.

    @magnetic,

    Don't let ssolie get to you, it's not worth it.

    Why don't you come with me to AmiWest this year? It is not like the old huge Amiga shows, but it is really not as bad as you make it out to be. It did have two sponsors last year which allowed everyone else to attend the show free, except for the dinner. I don't remember the exact attendance number, but I would guess that it was about 2-1/2 times your estimate and I am trying to boost attendance this year to twice that number.

    There were actually several people there that wanted to see MorphOS running on my Efika and I did not get one negative remark from any of them (at least not to my face, who knows what people say behind my back). It was a very friendly event and it looked like everyone there was having fun and learning a few things, or meeting new people.

    I could certainly use a more experienced MorphOS user there to answer questions that I cannot due to my inexperience and newbie status.

    @ amigadave:

    Yes! That's a really good idea!!!
    I thought about it (I've been dreaming about an USA journey since I was 14) and I'd really like
    to show MorphOS in action.. Sadly, this Saturday will be my last working day: I'm closing my bar
    forever and I have to think seriously what to do, so:

    @ magnetic:

    Why not?! ;-)
    You are an experienced person regarding Pegasos and MorphOS as amigadave said.

    @Jambalah,

    You are welcome to stay at my place anytime you can make it over here to the USA (as long as I am home, let me know in advance of when you can come).

    Why are you closing your bar? What kind of bar are you talking about?

    If you come before, or stay after the AmiWest show, I'll be glad to see you there. I will continue to work on convincing magnetic and Aciil to go to the show this year.

    Thanks man, that's really kind of you! I'll keep it in mind in case I'll travel in the States.

    Thanks Velcro!
    I am closing the bar (oh... it seems a MUI class.... :-) ) due to the owner of the local that doesn't want to renew the lease contract and so..... I have to go =(
