Sitting by their Pegs and waiting for 2.1 release with fixes to usb stack, filesystem that supports filesize over 2Gb, ..... And other such small things that one might expect to get for that 150EUR (and of course still there are the users who can't register via Paypal...)

This should definitely be high up on the to-do list IMHO, especially since the OS can handle it now (right?)...

Can't you use SFS2? I thought that could have files larger than that, not I've actually got any files that size myself, but..

BTW writing this on MacOS X on a G4 1.42 with 512 MB of ram, it's like crawling through treacle, nice OS, but soooo slow.. Well compared to Morphos (and other Amiga like OS I could mention, but wont at this moment in time.)

sfs2 is an os4 thing and it's not available anymore iirc (due to some major bugs). But you can use ext2 - it's bundled with morphos and it supports >2gb files.

And loose all your data due to the EXT2 filesystem on MOS is still at beta stage (have tried it... have found it too unreliable)

I've got nr. 11 (Pegasos2). Maybe the owner of #42 could answer some very important questions ;-)

Wow, they actually have ~500 paying customers? To be honest I didn't expect that many at this price level. Should have generated a pretty penny for them, but I'm still convinced they could have made twice that money at half the price. Let's see what happens when the Mac Mini port is released, and if some changes will be made to the licensing policy. I can't see myself buying more licenses if they don't introduce volume discounting (like buying the second copy at 1/2 the price, the third copy at even less, etc). I have three Pegs and one Efika. I hoped to have MorphOS on them all, but had to prioritize the Peg2 G4, so the others haven't even seen a glimpse of MorphOS 2, which is sad.

The old debate about price... But I cannot other than to use the opprtunity to second your statement. When the Mini version comes and teh intention is to get *new* users a price >99 is a killing thing!
99 EUR is IMHO the maximum. Spending one big green note is relatively easy for many ppl, but adding another brown note to that hurts.

I did buy my license for an Efika for two reasons: I have no patience and I want to support the team.

But sourcing a Macmini now and paying full price for another license ... not sure about that. It will depend on how long it's going to take for the appereance of this port. For now I have spend enough money in the 2 last months to run MorphOS.

However I guess 150 Euro for an OS isn't that expensive if you take in account that this is more or less the first commercial release. Take a look at microsoft: they sell the most copies of an OS for almost 2 decades now and they still dare to ask 400$ for Vista Ultimate while they probably still would make profit if they ask 100$ for it.

If they make MorphOS cheaper to sell with Macmini for new users ... I would be not so happy. Why did I have to pay 150 Euro then ? That wouldn't be fair.

I would be happy to pay less then 100 Euro for the MAC Release for a Mac Mini or Powerbook.
And in my opinion a price above 100 Euro would be a no go once the Mac Port is done. There are many Ex-Amiga/MOS Users that have a Mac Mini or willing to get one when MOS is available for it but i think none of them would pay more then 100 Euro.
With a pricetag of lets say 99 or better 79 Euro for MOS with MAC support and then also for Peg1/2 and Efika the Team would sell far more then 1000 copies. I would replace my Peg2 with a Mac Mini and i would also buy a copy for my 15" Powerbook. And i know some MOS die hard fans that even contribute to MOS with litle Software projects that still use MOS 1.4.x
because 150 Euro is to much for them.
So MorphOS Team think about that!

If 100 euro isn't to much for them ... then why is 150 ? It just means they have to save some more money . Or they just don't really want it I guess.

Uhm, I'd check my math if I were you.. ;-)
To make twice the money at half the price they would have needed to sell more than 4 times the licences they sold (more, because there are some small fixed cost to support each registration). And I am not really sure a similar amount of working machines that can run MorphOS are in the hands of people that knows MorphOS. And maybe a similar amount doesn't exist altogether, even counting the Linux users.

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

Well if you count Peg1's, Peg2's, Efika's owned by an Amiga enthousiast AND people that would buy an Efika if the license is half the price ... you might reach 2000 users ...

But the words "would" and "might" just don't fit in a businessplan.

Reaching 500 users while asking 150 Euro or maybe 2000 (but probably only somewhere between 1000 and 1500) while asking 75 euro ... you can do the math I guess.

I believe someone mentioned 492 at the Belgian Amiga Club meeting 2 weeks ago. But don't take my word for it.
