What's 'a "the arcade" joystick' if I may ask?

If you mean X-Arcade, it works just fine with peg2 as a PS2 keyboard (with pass through for PS2 keyboard, which can be used to change which keys each button works as)

So basically it works as a keyboard. If a program/game supports keyboard controls, it works with X-Arcade.

With a separately sold USB adaptor (which also works just fine with peg2) it can be mapped to joystick(s) too, and it also makes it hotpluggable.

There is a usb version of competition pro, which gives the real feeling, instead of keyboard or analog stick or something :)

    Hi,

"The Arcade" from SUZO was the best joystick ever made - IMHO.
Still have one back from my C64-times (that means 1984) and still playing DGalaga on my old A4000 once a while.

Just take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Arcade_(joystick)

At http://w5.cs.uni-sb.de/~stahl/com/index_uk.html#1 you can find a plan for an interface to connect those joysticks to the game-port.

Haven't found something like USB <-> 9-pin arcade; but as I'm not into hardware I would have no use for this anyway.

Well I build the adapter which HAk linked too.
It worls ok on a pc but not on euae on morphos.
Is there a tool too read the gameport directly?
Or should I use another uae version?
Or just buy myself a usb joystick?
    Any recommandations?

Well, first you need to check if it works at all. You can see in poseidon prefs when enabling "track events" and "report current values" in hid/joypad prefs.

If it works and you enabled lowlevel emulation, then all you need to do with uae is to add :
joyport1=joy0 (or joy1,...) depending on the lowlevel unit number assigned to your joypad in poseidon.

It is connected through the joystick port off the pegasos.
With the adapter I can connect a old analogue joystick to it.
It works ok on a pc as for functioning.
But guess euae only reads out usb joysticks for connection.

    Hi,

    this could help you:

    http://www.vmc.de/amithlon/swr/newlowlevel.lha

I never tried it but it is intended to work on Amithlon and MorphOS. Geit wrote it a couple of years ago. Maybe it can solve your problem.

Before using it, read the included readme carefully.

Well that didn't work but thanks for link.
I managed to get it going a bit.
I bought a usb to gameport adapter(sitecom) and hooked it to my homebrewed adapter and behold it works ..a bit.
I had to do a lot off fiddling in poseidon to get all directions going.
I had to fill in all the numbers off the x and y directions when pushed.
Workes but these numbers are not absolute they are variable.
So when it is not this exact number(if you push not straight) it won't react..annoying.
Is there some way to set this up in poseidon??
Many things you can set up ther in HID.class action.

Well I finally got it to work now.
I just needed a little tinkering in poseidon to get going.
It feels more classic this way..and I love these joysticks thinking they are made too last a lifetime.

I have bought a x-arcade joystick but it not work very well on Peg (Mame, vice, etc...).
For example in mame configuration the "x-arcade" option is missing... :-(

(I'm sorry for my bad english)

Xarcade should work if you manually map the buttons hitting TAB on Mame...
