    Hi,

Some extra work was put into the MorphOS Robin Hood port.
The game should run 100% stable now and we did our best to speed the game up to run fast on G3 machines.

Robin Hood gfx routines were rewritten and are now quite optimized for MorphOS in addition to this the latest patches of PowerSDL have increased performance on most GFX-Cards.

The game runs now much faster on Pegasos and even runs in nice speed on G3 Pegasos machines.

A new demo will be uploaded in short time and the Robin final version will shortly be available too.

    Now there is one question:

Robin comes with speech files in three languages (English/German/and French)
All three languages could be included on one DVD but only one language on a CD.

Who as MOS user does not have a DVD drive?

If you would buy the game which language would you want to buy?

Please answer the above to help us find out what CD/DVD versions are needed.

    Thanks in advance
    Gunnar

    hi!

great news, thanks! good support for an unreleased product:)

personaly i haven't got dvd drive in my peg but dont mind if the game will be released on dvd. its not a big deal to get a dvd drive for a system nowadays:)
i guess its important to have many languages as possible in any sw or game, so i voted for english/german/fr included - even if i understand only english.

cant wait for the demo to test it on my g3!
if it fast enough i will buy the game for sure!

I, too, think that almost everyone has a DVD drive and that all three languages should be included.

Personally, once I'll buy the game, I'd prefer German obviously. :-)

Glad to hear that, Gunnar, thanks for your efforts.

I would prefer a DVD release with all languages, although my mothertongue is German.

As a DVD rom drive only costs about 20 EUR here in Germany and such a drive is useful for more than just playing a single game (e.g. it is useful for DVD ripping via MEncoder, too), you should probably release it on DVD only.

i would prefer a dvd version too.

english doesn't disturb me but, if it's in french, it's a must ;)

I will most likely buy the game. DVD seems fine. I would also copy it to hard drive, even if it is very big. I hate having to keep the proper disk around.

I'd use English, I guess. But it would be nice to have additional languages on the same disk.

Honestly, I would go for 2CDs. English default language on the main CD and option to install languages to HD from other CD.

I have a DVD drive btw.

One more thing, that I forgot to clarefy.
The game will be played from HD.
You will only need the CD to install the game.
I have to admitz that I hate games which require you to have the CD in the drive to play, I assume must of you feel the same.

The sound files are quite big.
So a CD is complete filled by one language.
A DVD will be big enougth to hold all three languages.

    Cheers

If you don't make a DVD version or a french CD version, will it be possible to download "french" language anywhere ? If it exists and can't be used, it's a bit sad for all french MorphOS users (150 Pegasos' owners subscribe to the Annuaire Amiga Francophone).

DVD is good for me. I just tried the updated demo and the speed increase on my G-3 is nice. Thanks for the boost.

DVD is good to me. And wouldn't it be nice to create the first ever commercial MorphOS game on DVD? :-)

And the new version indeed is a LOT faster, nice progress!

However, that raises one question: Can other screenmodes (than those selectable in settings) be supported? I wonder if 1280x1024 would be fast enough on G4 Peg2... That just happens to be the default resolution (no ugly scaling) on most(?) "affordable" LCD monitors.

DVD and the three languages will be nice...

If there is no French version in the CD/DVD, where to download the French soundfiles ?

Well the topic was not started by RuneSoft but by me, and I'm just a stupid developer who only thinks about providing a good software to make everybody happy, unfortunately I have zero clue about starnge licences and extra prices for the french language files.

So if some french speakers insist on some extra money for their language files and this sum puts this out or perspective for the MOS market then I'm sorry.

Live is sometimes more complicated than a simple programmer imagines.

    Cheers
