I am sitting here, wondering about what MorphOS needs in form of programs or functions. Maybe you have some ideas, well here are mine.

    Modeedit:
Newer way of setting screenmodes etc. The way its done now confuses lots of new users.

    VLC ported:
Many talks about how great mplayer is, but it seems like VLC does a lot of things which mplayer dosent. Its also a lot faster on macosx atleast than mplayer for osx. VLC also have great mp4 compatibility which is the new standard it seems.

    Video editing software:
For some months ago, MotionStudio was shown. I would like to see it ported. Looks like a great iMovie clone. MorphOS is really a great videoedit OS. Fast boot, programs starts in seconds etc,..

    Presentation program:
Amiga was the king with Scala. MorphOS should get some software for it. How is Hollywood going? Havent heard much last weeks.

Well, thats my wishes at the moment :) If you have some wishes etc, write them down. Nice to see what morphos users really wants.

It started well with the first point.
But the three others don't have to be related to a "new MorphOS release"; applications can exist on their own.

    Sorry :)

    AltiVec support, of course!

It would be very cool if the next morphos release had support for editing text files 8-)

    Modeedit & CGX:
Would it be possible to add software scaled screenmodes? Like 320x240 that would use 640x480 with double pixels. A working 320x240 screenmode is something I've missed since starting to use flatscreen...

Also, is it possible to do screenmodes, that fill only part of the screen area? I bet that (for example) 640x480 would look a lot better when stretched to 1280x960 (with black bars) rather than stretched to 1280x1024...

Jupp3: The first question is interesting, maybe with overlay, I have no clue. For the second question, I think this happens automatically. If you define a 640x512 mode, and no 640x480, and some app wants 640x480, it will use the 640x512 mode but not the full height (so black borders).

That depends on game / program. Some of them (at least some Hyperion ports) open the "next higher" screenmode just fine, but don't empty the whole screen properly. The end result is that those parts of the screen that SHOULD be the mentioned black borders flicker VERY badly...

Then I suggest you vote with your cash at IrseeSoft .. the latest update should give you access to a fair number of new drivers (and you get GraphicsPublisher!)...

    - >2GB files support
    - AltiVec support
    - USB2 support
    - GBit ethernet support

My dreams (most of them are not OS-level things, sorry):
    - BlueTooth stack
    - MSN messenger client with webcam/sound support
    - Working torrent client with GUI
    - Native ATC (or other ftp client)
    - Native rcFTPd
    - Native MiamiDX (never will happen :((( )
    - Updated MPlayer with brightness/contrast/panscan/etc support

One thing that classic amiga still does a lot better than MorphOS. And best of all (if not already done) it should be a relatively easy thing to do.

The feature is: Mouse pointer movement with keyboard.

On Classic Amiga, the pointer accelerates, the longer you hold the key. But on MorphOS, it's always as slow. Also the "shifted movement" seems to depend on mouse settings (I don't really like that personally)

Also another damn annoying bug, probably in MUI: When you use defined hotkey (System prefs, IControl, Menu: Launch menus) to launch menus (and close them with esc) some keys (backspace, cursor keys included) no longer work in at string gadgets etc. untill you press RMB with either RMB or RCommand+Ralt.

If MorphOS could access EDID over DVI then MorphOS could automatically
find which screen modes are available from the monitor and the "best"
    screen mode.

Do current video drivers support DVI ?

    Hi all,

Amigaguide datatype for MorphOS, the 68K version crashes sometimes.
Anyways, mostly what i read here are important.

I always thought that this version *was* PPC-native - or is it just a copy of the 68k-original?

Tabs for the screens that are open. Just like windows but for me I think that buttons in the top of the screen is more intuitive......

Drivers so I can use the sounds from my soundcard to play midi-files just from my computer. And a simple player for it. Now I have always to start Bars&Pipes.
I tried several old midiplayers but they don't work on my Pegasos.

    regards, Tom

Ever tried to install Geronto.player for AmiNetRadio and its Timidity Patches? You can then play MIDI files in ANR, works nicely for me.
    You can get everything here:

    Kind regards,

Thanks, I installed it and it works fine.....!
I've tried a lot because I use Midi for a lot of things.
I'm a conductor and in this way I can send midifiles made by myself for studyreasons and till now I had to use my old Amiga to make them and to hear them....

Top 10 wishlist for the next release(s):

    1) All dependies on classoc AmigaOS removed and re-implemented/substituted.

    2) TCP/IP stack included and supported in the MorphOS package.

The first two are IMO essential for providing a platform which can stand on its own feet.

    3) Screendragging equivalent, with drag and drop support.

    4) Fully integrated 'Grim Reaper' like support.

    5) Changes to the core memory system, as preparation for the future, so that one day Memory Protection can be supported.

    6) Cygnix GTK/X11 equivalent, so that joined efforts are possible with OS4 ported software (Gimp, etc) is simplyfied. Hopefully making Firefox and OpenOffice.org for Amiga-like systems a reality someday.

    7) Port to at least one mainstream platform, preferably the PS3.

    8) Modern E-UAE/UAE with licensed classic ROM or (AROS?) reimplementation included.

    9) A better webbrowser included.

    10) A roadmap for the future?

It's there since years. Debuglog provides as usefull informations as Grim Reaper. It just lacks a fancy gui.

The Grim Reaper does more than just logging and enabling endusers to easily send log files to developers.

"AmigaOS4.0 has added the Grim Reaper, a smart crash handling system that will catch those "guru" errors and stop them getting out of control. It can provide complete information about the crash, a great boon to developers, and can simply kill the offending task and free up the resources it was using."
