This is no joke :) I am leaving to South Pole tommorow, to a wonderful place full of penguins and snow. As I will most likely be cut off from internet for at least a couple of months, all emails sent to me will not be replied for ages.

I will not cease supporting MorphOS. I will be working on its components as well as on my personal pet projects. Due to lack of internet things will slow down a lot though (at least I won't be able to release anything ;) This also implies no more support of SSHCON/MUICON and my other applications as well as MorphOS PowerUP - that will be taken over by Chain|Q though.

See you in ~14 months! :)

    P.S.

To learn something about the place I will be staying/working at, please visit http://sunsite.icm.edu.pl/dab/ (english)

    Cool,
Really really cool in fact ;-)

    Have fun!

BTW Carl Sassenrath did a stint down there in 1981 so you're in good company.

Jacek, stay warm! We wish you the best of luck and a great experience. By taking your ODW to Antarctica you will have successfully completed the first step in PegasosPPC/ODW world domination. :-) We will now have boards/machines on every continent.

We will of course blog about this!

Congratulations also on being selected. We are sure that is a big honor. Nicholas is right. Carl Sassenrath did the same thing at about the same time in his life.

    R&B :-)

SOunds awsome all except the no internet part hehe. I like the internet way to much. If got the money im sure you could get a satellite internet that woudl work there. Although I know it would be more expensive then the satellite internet i use out in the desert here. AS you would need a bigger transmitter. Well Actually I take that back. If you were to mount it on a 12 foot dish it would prbly work =)

    @jacadcaps

I wish you all the best in your venture.

You'll be flying to New Zealand first of course (landing in Auckland or Christchurch?) and then getting another plane from there.

Do you have time to stop in NZ for a few days or weeks before continuing to the South Pole?

While I was in NZ i went to the south pole exploratory building at Christchurch and it's a very interesting experience seeing the sorts of things that happen in the SP and watching the penguins. There's even a room you go into (wrapped up in thick coats) where they take the temp down to SP conditions and then blow a snowblizzard at you for 30 secs. Brrrrr!!!!!

    You'r gonna LOVE it!

Oh, and my dad could get a job there too cause he's a welding and fabrication instructor and they center had a noticeboard with "jobs vacant" notices on and a welder was one of them!!!!

I'm envious. Make sure you take lots of photos and post them asap!

    Best wishes. Bifford.

For those specially interested I've uploaded a few photos he sent from his trip in the new Pole to Pole album...

I really hope that you don't get seasick... I know the seas around there, and in this time of the year there are some monster waves.
