    hello guys,

since i have my pegasos 2 i am not able to use my dvd drive to read dvds zone 2, europe, with Frogger or MPlayer. that dvd drive is a Samsung SD-616F. i also tried to copy the content, from shell, DOpus 4.1x or 5.5, and i obtain an error 296 on the .vob files. i am thinking about purchasing Frogger but this one would have no sense if i cannot solve that dvd drive problem. what/where is the problem ? is the dvd drive not set to the correct zone ? should i have to put it in a pc under windows to verify if then it can read dvds zone 2 and if not to try to set it to this zone 2 ?

I think that problem is already known but the interested person, laire.

Someone told me he is aware of the issue, but I don't have any further information as wether or not this will be fixed in MOS 1.5.

If I'm not wrong, Error 296 is a read/write error.

    hello Fred,

thank you for your little answer.

i will wait for other answers from specialists of MorphZone. does anyone think that i should sell this dvd drive and buy an other model from a different manufacturer whose models are known to work correctly under Morphos with MPlayer or Frogger ?

read errors are normal when you try to playback the .vob files from a encrypted DVD directly.

Use the MPlayer commandline. If you have problems with that: I made a small shellscript which you can find under the "furnance/tools" section on my homepage (see signature).

    regards,
