    Transport Tycoon Deluxe, the classic good old game which was distributed by Microprose is now Open Source.

    It would be very nice if someone with knowledge of porting Open Source things to MorphOS would do such port. You would get the biggest butterfly of me, if that was done :)

    Screenshot:
    http://slace.sytes.net:65/pics/ttd/ottd/current.JPG

    And here is more info:
    http://www.openttd.com/about.php

    OpenTTD 0.3.1 /0.3.0 is for:
    Windows
    MacOSX
    BeOS (w/ bone)
    BeOS
    Fedora Core 1 Linux

    Wouldn't it be nice to see this well known strategy game for MorphOS? I think so.

    As said,.. a big butterfly for them which ports this Open Source game to MorphOS :) and something extra from aw.org

    Regards,
    Michal

    Is it SDL-based?

    It says you will need zlib, libpng and SDL libraries to compile successfully (at least non-Win32 versions), so I'd answer yes. Haven't looked at the sources, though.

    Kind regards,

    i builded it. But I'm not sure if it works yet (no midi support, that's for sure ;).

    but sadly i don't have all required data files which are required to play the game. I copied the files from Transport Tycoon.. but that was not enough. :-(

    So i don't know if it does work or if it does not work. :-D

    I'll upload the binary later.. so if someone wants to try... :)

    regards,
    tokai

    @hnl_dk:

    no, but that's also not the required stuff. :) the archive only contains the linklibs and some support stuff for building OTTD (but not compatible with morphos).

    but i tested a bit more and renamed the dos datafiles... the game itself seems to work (you have sound, u can build roads etc.). I only get wrong colours (which will probably soved when you try it with windows datafiles).

    hey.. it's my first SDL port.. maybe i also did something wrong?! :-D

    Ok ... didn't have the time to look at it, but it looked "usefull" ;-)

    But congrats to your first SDL port :-D ... Looks good (not looking at the colors) :-D

    yay, it works so far. I just had my first success and a first bus was driving his route! :-)

    Also Saving/Loading of the game seems to work... and also should be relativily stable (as stable as SDL etc. is)

    You just have to use the right (windows TTD) datafiles.

    Tokai can you post the latest build of the binary and some docs on how to get it started? I would like to try this game out.

    @acill

    The link to the binary is in this thread and there is a readme.txt in de distribution about installation; it's dead simple (just copy some needed files in a dir and that's all)

    @acill:
    yes, it's already linked! ;-)

    but no worry... that is just a working compile. But I'm working on a proper release which will also include support for more languages and bugfixes. etc.

    And maybe I'll also get network support running. :-)

    tokai

    tomorrow we have holiday here so i have enough time. :)

    Sounds good, but I think I will wait for Tokai to complete it some more and then give it a try. The screen grab looks real nice though.

    0.3.1 build of OpenTTD

    NEW:
    - more optimized
    - maybe more stable
    - can save png screenshots
    - uses zlib for saving games

    notes:
    - turn off "full animations" in game config (it's a bit broken in game itself)
    - don't try to make a "Giant screenshot" it'll freeze :)
    - toggling to fullscreen does not work properly

    Tried it, but I only have the DOS version and its not working well. I dont feel like paying for it again if I can even find a windows version. Isnt this game free now that the source was released? Or is it just the engine they released as open source?

    EDIT:I tried my data files and I guess I have the windows version after all! Its working great!!!!
