i would like to know if it possible to play YouTube video in MPlayer in streaming please?

I add the link but does't work.

If it's impossible with MPlayer, is there another way with another player?

You need the direct YT-URL of your movie to watch. What you see in Wayfarer or OWB (or any other browser) is an alias-URL, which has to be changed (calculated) to the real URL. The real URL you can copy to MPLAYER, which works perfect.

To find the real URL are 2 (maybe more) ways:

1. In OWB open the movie and look at message window, which schows you the real URL
2. Try to find a online URL converter for YT (afaik are there some...)

At moment I see no way to get converted URL from Wayfarer - maybe there is one, but I don't know....

AmiTube can use a streaming Player like MPlayer but I don't know if it's usable on MOS

Copy that without the beginn ("[MediaPlayer] Loading ") to Mplayer URL-requester. Runs here perfect!
If message Stream in't cacheable, try again and be carefull about blanks in URL-Adress......

Amitube works, but it cdxl/mpeg1 so not optimal for faster systems ... The direct youtube players always been the best, but always gets outdated when they keep on changing things... For Android i use NewPipe, that is a good one ..

Amitube is also useable under MOS, but it is'nt needed. Amitube converts Videos on a certain server to different format and loads it down after. This takes time and many videos are not playable....
It's easier to look YT in Wayfarer or OWB (oly fullscreen).
If playing it directly in Mplayer, resolution can be set to 720p - works very fine on G5.

@kriz: As long as OWB decodes it right and can play the video, it can be played in MPLAYER.

AmiTube + MPlayer got the advantage that the Vid plays with 720p in the background and you can use Wayfarer full speed

Amitube can passthrough the original video. So you can either download the original mp4 File or get the stream URL for usage with MPlayer. There is no need to convert the video to CDXL or MPEG.

I have a modified version of YT2.4 from OS4Depot to work with MorphOS.
You just need to edit the path to mplayer in the YT.cfg file
The program will display the video address and offer to download it with requester, or play it with mplayer.

in Tools/ drawer, there is a YT_launcher.lha containing a YT executable for AmigaOS4 with source in E language.

It will be possible to port on MorphOS too?

I just recompile it with PortablE.

It will be possible to add a version number ($VER YT 2.4) to YT executable to have a version number showed in Easy2Install please?

Just a note, for the YT launcher to work, it must be in the directory where YT.rexx is and it must be named that (not YTmos.rexx).

@papiosaur: Seems to be a problem of your Mplayer- or System-config! What videodriver do you use in Mplayer?


@SkulleateR: Many videos (here) are'nt accessable when useing Amitube and searching is a pain! OWB+Mplayer or Wayfarer works a lot better.

ok in the 2 overlay mode, the video is attached at the GUI (window resizable) -> graphic bug when i move window in pause mode
mode cgx_wpa: the video is detached of the GUI (window not resizable) -> no graphic bug when i move window in pause mode

I use the same driver on all MOS-machines (Mini, PB, G5, Peg2) and double (on PB also triple) buffered display.
I can move Mplayer-window during playing or in pause mode without loosing content. Window is reziseable.
Mplayer is Version 1.4 beta1 from 16.09.2020.
