    Hello everybody,
    I recently approached Morphos
    this is my configuration:
    Powerbook G4 1.67 15 '2gb of ram ati 9700 128mb

I have installed Morphos + ChrysalisPack + sdk

    I'm probably doing something wrong

    my question is this:
I launch ED and open a file
    I edit it

then in the same session I try to open ED again
to edit another file but nothing happens it does not make me open any folder and I cannot interact with the rest of the system only an hourglass remains (if I close ED everything works again)
I cannot access the menu to launch another ED session
Only by opening a shell can I get another ED session
are there any settings in the GUI to make to allow multiple sessions at the same time?
Thanks for any suggestions or advice :-)

You're launching ED from a pull-down menu? Sounds like it's launched without "Run >NIL:" so it's a configuration error in Chrysalis. I don't have Chrysalis installed, but maybe there's some script file in WBStartup which creates custom menus... check the file and add Run >NIL: in front of ED command line?

    Thanks for your answer.
    i will only install morphos
because maybe there are other things wrong
i noticed that a shell opens at startup but it is very fast hard to notice.
I will build the system little by little :-)
Thanks again for the answer. :-)

    Thanks to you.
It is possible to have a correction of the file
because I tried to edit the "crabum.rexx" file
but i can't find the solution.

This would allow me to continue configuring Morphos and trying it out and continuing to experience all of its applications.
I would save a lot of time at least initially because I just bought the G4.

Always if the problem lies in the "crabum.rexx" file and it is easy to fix.

    Thank you

If you have always Chrysalis pack, edit sys:wbstartup/crabum.rexx (contextual menu with right button of the mouse)

    search tittle="ED"

modify command to "run >NIL: ED %sp"

Now you can select file(s) then EDIT them via menu.

The pack is not perfect but i try to improve it with the help of users, thanks to you for your return.

New version of the pack is uploding...

To be precise I put a video to explain myself better I hope it will be useful

here you can see how the whole system crashes (freeze)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWU_R9AnrCw

in this case i used qemu with morphos to make the video easily but that's what happens on real hardware

    Thanks again for your work.

As I was suggested to me in a forum
This seems to solve the problem in Crabum.Rexx
    CommandType=Workbench Command="C:ED"'

It seems to work and the freeze does not occur

I can't wait to start using Morphos with Chrysalis-Pack will help me a lot to discover the system and all your potential.
    Thanks again for creating it.

currently with the new ED update it does not work directly from the taskbar menu

    adding:
    Workbench C:ED
everything works without any locks and works using it from the taskbar menu

BTW. nothing actually "crashes" there, it's just that if you launch a program from the Ambient pull-down menus without launching it as a background process, it blocks further operation of Ambient until the program has been quitted.

So, when you launch a program that doesn't start as a background process itself, it's important to remember to launch it as a Workbench program or with the "Run >NIL:" if launched as a command line program.

This has also been mentioned here: https://library.morph.zone/Getting_Started#Creating_Menus_with_CRABUM
