Huh, I tried a not encrypted DVD, it was taking around 50% of the CPU (mplayer, peg II G4).

    It's strange,
I recieved my PegII G4 today and NOW DVD playback has finally become smooth and fast, everything is OK here. With my 'old' Peg1 G3 DVD was almost unusable, but now it seems perfect.

    Hi

Yes, I can play DVD on my Pegasos smoothly, and have done that since the beginning, on my Peg G3.

Im using AMP for this purpose.

A tip might be that playing DVD, and video over all, works best on a Radeon 7000, as you can use overlay with a such graphicscard, and what you yet can not do with a Radeon with higher number.

This means I for instance I can play in full resolution on its own screen as well as window on Ambient screen with exactly the same framerate if I prefer.

And please remember some DVD-drives doesnt work playing DVD with MPlayer in MorphOS, while they works perfectly with AMP or with MPlayer in Linux.

And some drives doesn't work with AMP in MorphOS, while they work with MPlayer in MorphOS.

The only solution to find out on this is to try out.

Will try the Peg II by now :-)
    Best wishes, Gunne

    Hello Morphers
Mplayer's success with DVD playback has alot to do with the DVD player as well. Milky and myself use an LG 8161b DVD Rom player and that is the one recommended to use with Mplayer. I use a voodoo 3500 agp gfx card with my Peg1 G3 and get near full speed and sync. I cant wait to try with Peg2 g4!

    Hello

If we all talking about the Mplayer does anyone know, why works Mplayer only at MOS 1.3 and not with 1.4?

    I got a radeon 9100 card...
    2 times 512Gb SDRAM Kingston...
    Pegasos I, waiting for PegasosII

mplayer works fine with mos1.4. are you sure you have the latest version of mplayer? 0.91 ?

It also plays perfectly here and i can run 4 instances of movies before the cpu grinds to 100% - of course only sound from the first movie plays.

This is with overlay on a radeon7000 pegI g3.

    Happy New Year, all.
