    Hello,

i have a problem with OpenURL.

I have a text file with "mailto:mymail" but Iris don't launch when i click on the file accessible with an icon.

To test it open MorphOS-Storage on OWB, open Chrysalis drawer on the left and click on mail icon on the same line of Chrysalis pack.

    Thnaks for your returns ;-)

I would guess the link is not correct implemented as nether Firefox nor Wayfarer show the mail icon, while OWB does.

Yes the icon is showed only on OWB because it support mimetype.

This is not how mailto links work.

You must have a "mailto:whatever@example.invalid" as link target instead of some ".mail" text file hosted on the site.

    Hello Piru,

    ha ok thanks

now i use a mimetype with OWB which execute the text file "openurl mailto:mymail".

It work but unfortunaly only if Iris is already launched...

Nothing append if Iris is not launched.

Maybe a problem with OpenURL command or prefs?

I don't get it, why would you do that?

Just use standard mailto: URLs. They work the same in all systems without any need to manual mimetype configuration.

To send easiest a mail to developer with Iris via MorphOS-Storage

This is not at all the "easiest" approach though.

That would be using a proper mailto link directly on the MorphOS Storage website which contains a full email address as part of the link and not inside an external file.

Of course, this may mean you are leaking email addresses that could be easily fetched by web crawlers.

If you would like to prevent this to stop people from receiving spam mail, you might want to use more elaborate approaches. In any case, using a ".mail" text file is not a solution.

You do not need any mimetype hacks for that. Just use a mailto link and it will work with any browser on any platform.

It means your OpenURL configuration is incorrect.
