Unfortunately, Reggae creator Krashan left MorphOS some years back.

I didn't know (or I had forgotten, same thing to my perspective) that he had left. That is unfortunate to lose talented members of the MorphOS Dev. Team, and specially those who have created parts that make MorphOS more efficient.

I would think that Reggae being more efficient with memory usage also means that it would speed up the opening of files that it supports within Final Writer, and make the experience as a whole feel quicker and more responsive (but I could be inflating my expectations of what adding Reggae support would add to Final Writer, or just stating an obvious benefit).

Due to how efficient it is compared to more modern word processors. I don’t think you would notice it much on anything beyond the efika.

Will Final Writer be able to save documents as a PDF?

Will it allow printing by a user to a selectable "device", i.e. PAR: , USBPAR: ?

Ouch! That's a longer wait than I realised, as this thread started way back on 3-Oct-2012, so it's been underway for over 8 years already.

@ terminills - Are you realistically near a completion/release date for Final Writer v7 for AROS or any other OS, including MorphOS?

Yes, it will. RTF has been updated to the final spec as well. I have many future enhancements planned based on how quickly I can recover my costs.

Yes you can print to selectable devices and PDFDirect support has been started but it'll take a little bit before I would say that is feature complete.

Technically I've owned it since 2015. There has been many bug fixes due to old coding styles.

I would say there's a slim possibility of before the end of the year.

Are you meaning . . . the end of this year (2020) . . . or some other year? 8-D
And . . . is that for the AROS version, or another version, all versions or some other scenario, specifically?

Thanks for the info about printing to devices I asked about, and what sort of cost do you have in mind for it when you are ready for its full new release?

Anyone know anything about the situation with development of Final Writer currently, as terminills never made it to an actual release in 2020, and we're now over half way through 2021 and still no sign of it being released AFAIK? :-?

I'm sorry I do tend to forget to check this site. I'd like to say we've done a feature freeze(feature creep is evil btw) for this version and it's now down to bugfixes.

So where is the best place for us to either monitor where you're up to, and if necessary ask about where the project is up to?

So, do you have any time-frame, such as, sometime in 2022 for fixing all the issues, prior to a release? :-?

By the way, thanks for the "heads-up" as well. 8-D

I'm going to try to keep everyone updated as the release gets closer. I'm quite happy with where we're at currently.

To me it seems like the amigaworld.net thread linked to in comment #139 would be this place.

Still no news on this project, 2020 came and went, as did 2021, and we are nearly out of 2022 with, sadly, no news for a few months on its progress &/or likelihood of its release. :-(

I did notice that there is no comment on the AmigaNews thread mentioned above, but found other news on Amiga News 12-July-2022 - FinalWriter progress, which links to FinalWriter's own website though there's not much activity on there, apart from a page with a few gallery images.

I have sent a contact message to the site for any news there might be, so I am awaiting a reply, and will pass that information on here, unless this thread gets updated by its author sooner than any reply that I may get back. :-)

The German section is the usual place to look for comments on amiga-news.de. There, the news article has as much as 34 comments, all in German though ;-)

And . . . this was the reply I received back from Contact Us @ FinalWriter - godaddy website "There’s been a fairly significant update made but my developer is not ready for me to announce it." :-o

So, that's a major improvement over what we were already told . . . NOT! (This is becoming a joke - not a funny one!) :-(
