I guess MorphOS users could live without Ultimate Pack, but why? Ultimate Pack 3.0 is really sweet and turnkey 8-)

Well, you can simply use the packet manager Grunch and install only the stuff you need and also keep the system compatible for future updates.

    @redrumloa,

The Pack Ultimate is great for first time MorphOS users, but I think most users with a bit more experience running MorphOS prefer using Grunch to install/uninstall/& maintain their programs. Really experienced MorphOS users don't use either and manage their files manually themselves.

I have worked my way up to preferring Grunch, and personally think it is the greatest thing created for MorphOS since OWB/Odyssey. I don't know if I will ever become expert enough to prefer doing all of my software management manually.

As soon as I get a chance to put my MDD PowerMac components back together, I plan on testing the Pack Ultimate 3.0 for myself, to see what changes have been made from the 2.7 version.

I dont use either, I prefer to configure my own system. Might be a headache at times but end result is worth it. 8-)

I'd also like to know if Ultimate Pack for MOS 3.0 is available now.

I always appreciated what you did with your pack. I am always been convinced that new user must be helped to have a powerfull system ready to use and you package is perfect for this goal. Probably many people (like me) just installed the pack one time and after that updated it manually, maybe for this reason it can seem you have few feedback.

What about my Better Look Pack? Is still in your package? If you're still interested in it (I refer in particular to my MUI config) consider that in MOS3.0 the developers removed a set of MUI frames (they have some problems not visibile under 2.7 and they are under fixing, will be back in 3.1) and for this reason some MUI graphic (like popup menus) can be showed in a wrong way.
If interested you can ask me for a fixed mui config that (try) to not use them or better ask them to have the missing MUI frames to have eveything working again in the right way. The third option is to copy them back from 2.7 CD.

    The missing frames are MOSSYS:Prefs/MUIGfx/frames/gelb/Polaris

I really appreciate the work that goes into the Ultimate Pack.
Will the latest update of MOS delay the release of your latest pack?

    Cheers

I am interested in your "Better Look Pack".

Is there a way you can distribute it separately for anyone who wants to install it on MorphOS3.0 systems that have, or don't have the "Pack Ultimate" installed?

I have heard about it, but do not think that I have ever seen any pictures of what it looks like.

Do you have some screen grabs of it installed?

    thanks!

I've just updated the archive on my ftp:

    http://digilander.libero.it/Miky060/BetterLookPack.lha

if you try it, please give me a feedback about how it works. Now that MorphOS 3.1 has been released and Gelb/Polaris frames have been fixed everything should be ok.

Papi there are no more problems. In MOS 3.0 some MUI frames (used by my config) was removed from the CD, but they have been fixed and now they are again on the 3.1 CD. So there are no more problems, use my config.

While installing Pack Ultimate is a good way to "quickly get a demoable system", I personally like this "old way", installing software as you need it. In the past, I used to have a habit of whenever theres a MorphOS update, start from scratch, and copy libraries etc. from old setup whenever needed.

But now with Grunch... That is something new and easy to use. Just click to install only software you need, and it will also install any needed libraries etc.

Of course there is the issue, that not everything is available from there (yet), but of course that is a problem with "everything", including Pack Ultimate.

Regarding Pack Ultimate, I wish there was more control over what it will do, what mimetypes it sets etc - would be nice to f.ex. still have the option for internal viewer for images.
