    Hello,
    I bought an Multi-Card-Reader.
    Connected an CF-Card to it.
    This is mounted as umsd:
I want to format it with FFS for usage in an A1200 via an
    CF-IDE-Adapter.
Formating preparations need to be done with my Peg, but how?

UMSD is listed in the MOS-internal Format-Tool, but it seems the
Filesystem can not be changed there.
All it says is: Custom FS 0x46415401 <FAT1>

I have UAE running here. What needs to be configured to make it mount
    that CF as an HDD?

    Before anyone asks:
I don't have working OS 3.1 disks anymore.
    The A1200 has no CD-Drive.

You should be able to use SCSIConfig to set up an FFS partition, just point it at usbscsi.device.

I had much trouble with scsiconfig and a usbstick.
It gave an error on startup of some kind.
I used HDInstaTools from Aminet instead.
It is a better and newer version off the old HDtoolbox.
I managed to format my usbstick with FFS and also later SFS without any problems.

    hm, gave hdinsttool a try.
    changed devicetooltype to usbscsi.device.
it lists all 4 slots of the reader, but all get status "unknown"
    all buttons are ghosted.
what else do i have to change?

Strange as my usbstick was recognized by both programs.
Only scsiconfig gave me errors on the stick.
Hdinstall had no such problems and workes like it should.
What if you put poseidon offline/online.

    still no success.
what does it take to format that "fat-drive" from within WinUAE?
When selecting the drive and doing "icon/format" it throws a guru.
how can that drive be formated with FFS?
