    Hi everyone!

    How can I validate a FFS partition?? Can I also defragment it?

    I was trying Foobillard to test my 3D hard, and it crashed somewhat
    badly.

    Is there any particular reason why you use FFS instead of SFS? However, IIRC a FFS validates automaticaly, just wait a bit.

    Strange. I play Foobilliards pretty much daily, and I can't remember it has crashed even once. And last weekend I won 10.80e from lotto too! ;-)

    @Bladerunner:
    I rebooted MorphOS around three times since the problem, and each time it takes half a geological age, while it works on the disk. So it must be validating it. However, there is a corrupt file that I cannot erase, and would like to be sure that the rest is OK...

    Is there any way of doing a disk check ? Like SFScheck, but for FFS?

    @Hooligan:
    Read here to know why it crashed:

    Well, my sys: is FFS,too. And since it takes
    so long (2 hours is the max I waited) to boot
    I just put in a MorphOS-CD ... boot from it
    and then copy all files to another partition.
    quickformat and copy back the files :-)

    Thats faster and works ;-)

    PS: When 1.>5xx comes out I will reinstall the system
    and make sure that only the boot.img is on FFS :-D

    @Robin

    Mine is FFS too. :-)

    [Yes, I'm aware of the disadvantages, e.g. file name length.]

    But I guess newer OF versions do support SFS, since I remember someone mentioning lately that it would work in case it does have a certain blocksize (512?).

    So maybe until 1.5 is released, you and I won't need to re-partition our drives anymore.

    Nope, it does not let me validate the volume (start becomes ghosted), and anyway, it thinks I have a 4,5 MB partition (instead of 32GB).

    Since it was not my Sys:, i copied everything (except the file that was dead) to another partition, changed the partition to SFS and reformatted.

    Lost some stuff that way (parts of the MOS SDK, which I can reinstall), but now I have only SYS: under FFS.

    I remember that I used the vt-viruschecker
    to quick-validate partitions when I had an amiga :-)
    But I've never tested vt on MorphOS :-)
