Some MOS components use music style names. We have Trance, Ambient... Something similar could be nice.

    Death-Gosbel, Hard-Reggae?

Am I getting the point? :-)

And what about "MorphOS Media"? Then, nobody would get confused with the name change.
The problem is "MorphOS" is commonly abbreviated to "MOS". So "MorphOS Media" will be abbreviated to "MOS Media" - we are back to the problem...

Then why don't abbreviate it as MOM?

Hmm, "Base" is definitely too short, but when we add "Media" to this... "MediaBase" is the best proposal I've seen here so far. What is your opinion?

    later
Damn, damn, damn, www.mediabase.com and more... All good names are taken already.

I liked the name 'showgirls', so I suggest you rename mos media to 'Springbreak' ;)

I have to agree with brotheris and Hooligan about the music-style names. it makes sense and fits together to the rest of the system, but without "MorphOS" and "Media" inside. Still sound stylish and cool.

I know krashan is the disco-type, but "Reggae" for the whole stuff fits perfectly IMHO.

    Go for that!

    tokai

As long as it doesn't end up in the name "Volksmusik" or "Schlager" (well, MOS could participate in the OS-Stadl then..) :-D

Like Ragga and Dancehall more than Reggae myself. But Reggae is the better name.

Given that Ambient is this background stuff that you use all the time
but never really think about, and Trance is what makes everything move
at a fast pace, I'm afraid MosMedia would have to be called Synth,
which would suck a bit. Then again, I guess Ambient should be renamed
    Illbient nowadays. ;-)

    @Hooligan

yeah, the picture codec could be called
aragonian-electro-folk with melodic death metal ;-)

Seriously, I like the idea of using a music style as name :-)

If that idea is dropped I would choose
"MorphCodec", "MorphData" or something like that

Hmhm, I guess the most fitting music style might be "Dub". Also, "MOS
Dub" doesn't give any confuseable hits with Google. But I guess
Krashan will think it's too short, so how about "Turntable"? :)

Don't forget 'goa' and 'rave'. We have a lot music stuff around already. Krashan has just to decide to this cool and stylish name which fits perfectly in the whole MorphOS concept and fits his criteria too: no 'Morph' and no 'Media' in the name (which transmorphy does not at all, its even hard to memorize).

Well, if we want to be correct then the proper name for "rave" music is "Hardcore".

I think it sounds quite cool too. :-D

jungl is already used -> junGL for the gl-implementation.

If I had my hair like 10 years ago I would suggest metal.

    Techno!

Seriously, I don't know if a name for a style of music would work because everyone here likes a different style of music! ;-)

It's too dumb, but I must suggest Rock (on which MOS apps stand) ;-)
Or another one - Base (from d'n'b). I hope the idea is clear :-)

    Very interesting! I suggest this!
