    ... with two slightly dissimilar drives. Do they have to be exactly
    the same as in a Hardware Based Raid Setup?

    ... has anyone used this software with scsi based drives?

    and lastly... has anyone here used URD at all??

    Thank You,

    I've used it with two identical IDE drives and two identical SCSI drives (with spindle sync enabled!! although 2GB wide scsi disk isn't exactly blinding fast anyway). Works! :D

    Using it with dissimilar drives is something never mentioned in the documentation as far as I read.. maybe you should ask the author if there are some strange things that could happen.

    You can use two drives that are not the same, but both need to be IDE or SCSI not interface mixed. If you use a small driver with a larger drive the small one will be the matching size. So a 60GB and a 120GB with only act as two 60GB.

    Hi,

    You can use ANY device in combination, even ide and scsi. About the disk-size:
    RAID0 can handle different disksizes, RAID 1 ofcos must have the same size.
    Better to say, the 'Stripe' and 'Linear' driver can handle different sizes,
    with the 'Single'-driver the disks must be the same in size.

    @Ascii >So a 60GB and a 120GB with only act as two 60GB.

    No, they act as 180GB ;)
