    @bbrv:
Does this mean that I can expect my replacement CPU module? :-D

Edit: Yay... It looks like I've gotten my G4 module today in the mail! :spastic banana: :-D [at least that's what I'm guessing from a message I got from my better half this morning: "You got an electric component in the mail from Germany".]

Thats really fantastic news. I guess the real question is how many are available for sale approximately?

    @ BBRV

Am I right im my assumption that this will be the last batch of 7447 based Pegasi and we will see afterwards 7447A Pegasi?

/Me considering to purchase a 2nd Peg, but only with 7447A

Maybe they had such a big stock of 7447 still...7447A has been available in
mainstream computers for 1/4 year now.

Are you sure? IIRC the 7447A should be available in quantities from August 04. And arrow.com doesn't list them yet...

Addendum: Apple uses AFAIK the 7447 NB (which can be cooled passively) within their current iBooks and Powerbooks but not the 7447A .

See my addendum. But don't nail me on this item. Apple is not famous for providing detailed technical information. IIRC they use the 7447 NB...

Addendum again: Yes seems like Apple uses the 7447A already within their latest i/Powerbooks. Well maybe then this Peg production run will feature the 7447A as well? Would be a welcome surprise...

Well I have fielded a phone call from an embedded software company that was interested in porting their realtime operating system to the pegasos hardware. I'm pretty sure that there are plenty of developers looking at pegasos. I have no problem with having more operating systems available for use :)

Not all of them are going to be "for the desktop" but that's not the point... the hardware can go a lot of places the competition can't.

The new ibook I got a few weeks ago list a 7447A as its CPU. So I would assume all the newer macs have them installed now. The only one I would think that doesnt is the imacs since they no longer produce them and are getting ready to put out the new model in September (G5 is the rumor)

I'm quite certian a G5 laptop will be out. Now that OSX Tiger is going to be 64 bit looks like apple is going that route!

    Hi Mr Bill Buck,

i'm happy to know, that "our" money ("our"= all the users that are waiting hundreds- already paid from 3 years- Amiga boards replaced/repaired from DCE) will help, for the new incoming Peg2 production. . . although usually should be better to choose where and to who, to make beneficence!
Pity . . . we could however, to deduce it from the taxes.

    Sincerely

Nah - not too soon. The 7447A has still some potential (the G4 Altivec is said to perform quite better that the G5 Altivec counterpart). Sure a 2+Ghz G5 mobile beast would be impressive but the faster G5s consume a lot of current. And a , say, 1.8 ghz G5 has not that big advantage over an G4 1.5 Ghz (exept from Marketing hype).
My guess: we will see a mobile g5 in spring 2005 but not in 2004. And the 64 bit extensions within the Tiger, well aren't they tangend more to the server business and do not matter too much for the every day use (but I am not an expert in Apple things, I like to eat them (oh, what a bad joke...!) and like to play around with my girlfriends iBook from time 2 time).

I did not understand what you said there. If you have something to say then email bbrv directly (bbrv at genesi.lu)

It looked like a vague attempt to de-rail the thread.

Got a problem with DCE ?
Than see how you can solve it with DCE (this may mean sueing them).

No reason to bring this up here.
No reason to accuse BBRV of anything related to DCE.

Yes they produce at DCE, but bPlan/Genesi is NOT DCE and as such not responsible for
the problems some people may have with DCE.

BBRV != DCE, so pointing this out is just neutral. Badmouthing (for example) BBRV for the delay of OS4, the Iraq war, floods in India would have the same effect.

I mean, you've came forth with some serious charges. If you have proof that financial cost of Genesi's peg2 production is covered by DCE with the money they collected for repair - then please be so kind and provide it either to us or a court directly.

But it still sounds rather artificial - DCE giving money to Genesi for the production of Genesi's Peg2? It should be the other way around.
