    I formatted it using Quick Format ... is it safe to work with the disk having it formatted like that?
    Pegasos II G3@600Mhz (no fan) 512MB RAM (1 slot)

    Full format is not necessary for hard drives, and doesn't make much sense either. Harddisks usually have an on-disk buffer, so verify requests will just read the data from that buffer and so can't check if the cylinder has been formatted properly anyway.
