    Hi,
    I have a 120GB disk, and so far I had made 7 partitions: FFS, (Reserved - For MacOS), SFS (4GB), Linux, Linux Swap...

    I wanted to add a last partition with the rest of the space (86GB), in SFS format. As the Peg2 manual suggests, I put 600 buffers, block size 512, Mask 0xfffffffe.

    When I try to format it, the format process stops after a while (11.6%, 29% in the second try...). Actually, this happened before when I formatted the other SFS partition, but I thought it was because I was multitasking, since it went OK in the 2nd try...

    Any idea? Should I retry and retry until it works? SFS can handle big partitions, right? Should I give up MorphOS and live my life in Gentoo Linux? ^^;

    Sounds familiar, had the same problem with the Pegasos I - so I suppose you can just retry again and again or consider to split the rest of the harddisk into smaller partitions to increase your chances to reach 100%.

    I formatted it using Quick Format ... is it safe to work with the disk having it formatted like that?

    I personaly never used full format on hds, the wait with big hard disks ir very long and imho not needed. I'll assume that it is safe to use. How about others ?

    When I mount the quick formatted partition under Linux, I can not see any file, just dirs... (;_;)

    Quick format is enough. Full format is only waste of time.
    1 + 1 = 3 with very large values of 1

    I went with the quick format. Thanks. The problem with the files under Linux was that I had quick-formatted the SFS partition with the Case-Sensitive option.

    Without that option, the partition works fine under Linux.

    According to the SFS-doc from aminet:

    Quote:

    Also be careful with the standard Format command! Always use the QUICK option for drives larger than 4 GB, otherwise format may format information in the wrong area of your disk!

    Don't know if this is relevant to the MOS-SFS, but nevertheless, I too used quickformat when installing my Peg2

    Not relevant to MOS.
