In case someone haven't noticed: a small toy called ShapeShow has been released by AmigaZeux.

It allows you to create a draggable window from a picture (thus allowing round, holed, whatever shaped windows) and lets you play around with it. Althought it has little use, I think it's fun. :-)

First of all, I'm terribly sorry about this (okay, I'm drunk... That's a good valid excuse)

get this, and use it like "shapeshow TRANSCOLOUR=$ffffff clippy.png"

And yes, I am very sorry... (and very drunk)

No, it's not. If the pic was a naked person then OK, but not that. You're just sick, very sick. :-D ;-)

    This program is evil !!!
Steals memory which it does not give back
and fragmentation is back like in pre 1.4.2 time.

The opaque-movement/refresh gets terribly slow when applying transparency.

What you think is slowdown because of fragmentation is probably layers slowdown because of the transparency refresh. If not, would you mind posting some evidence of the ram it eats and doesn't give back, and we can fix it?

Don't use SmartWin or any other hacks that will force windows intended for simple refresh to use smart refresh.

Smart refresh will cause many many small allocations especially with highly complex region/transparency stuff and thus results in your memoryfragmentation.

Evidence is hard to provide. I'm using a
simple and somewhat clean MOS. There is
nothing more added than arexx and amigaguide.dt
    from 68k.

I dont use stuff I already hated on amiga like
reaction and tools like smartwin ... I've 512 MB
and in general MOS uses up to 200MB of it
    (rarely more).

    Current after 7 hours:
    Type Available In-Use Maximum Largest
    fast 368210528 131771808 499982336 312487176
    total 368210528 131771808 499982336 312487176

After starting and quitting the three demos
given in the readme the total of available
was belowe 200m and largest down to 120m ...
that has not happened when I use it with 4 days
uptimes ... and I use Voyager and YAM alot
which are quite heavy for memory use and
    fragmenting ...

yeah! well, I put this on my peg (1) and it seems to work just fine.
now, as I just HATE typing in a shell, how can I use this with icons? On my real Amiga I would have used iconX or some such thing to make a script and attach an icon to it.
As I'm still new to this MOS thing, is there something similar to this?

    drink up, Jupp!

Guess I'll make version that works from icon, when I have higher quality graphics... Current version is based on jpeg I found using google.

    don't be a wiseguy :-D
of course I can try that (later today when i get a minute). however, as this is NOT strickly an amiga, I've been told certain programs are "broken" or not working. So, I figured I'd say something. since no one - yet - has said this absolutely won't work, it's now worth a try.
after all, the icons ARE a bit different than in AmigaOS.

Well you`re right, some things are different to a real Amiga. Otoh, it is amazing how good things actually works. And for Iconx, i didn`t notice any Problems.

yes, indeed! I tried it and iconX does work with ShapeShow. yippy!

of course, everytime i click on the icon I have another "clippy" on the WB, but that could be funny! :-P

I'm getting that 'ol Amiga Feeling....
