Which graphics editing programs do you actually use under MorphOS?

Unfortunately, fxPaint is no longer being developed, let alone sold.

Ad hoc I can think of PerfectPaint, which is only 68k/AmigaOS3.x.

How does ArtEffect run under MorphOS?

For image processing I'm using ShowCase (especially for photo editing) and RNOEffects (alpha channel effects, pixel editing).

I don't use old 68k programs that much anymore, but occasionally still for some special uses. ArtEffect runs fine what I've used it, it's the best all-arounder IMHO. fXPaint2 I use only for creating HTML galleries. PersonalPaint for pixelling and palette operations (original 68k version is still more stable than the new 68k or MorphOS versions), but it's been replaced by RNOEffects more and more (especially with the unreleased 2.1 version ;).

MorphOS version of PPaint? Are you beta tester?

PPaint MorphOS could be interesting. What happend to it?

@ ThorstenS: there is also the included Paint program. Did you try that? It also has simple paint and edit functions. I sometimes use it. What do oyu want to do?

Basically, I have to make a picture the right size. The lower area must then be resized as shown in my example image. That would be all.

    Example

However, the question remains as to which graphics program I can use to do this. In principle, I prefer MorphOS native programs.

Then best is ShowCase. There you can use the Crop function to cut off the borders. It is slow to move the borders in realtime but after that it works good.

I don't want to cut anything off the picture. I would like to hide the image with the help of a filter, which will create a pattern like the one in my example image. Unfortunately, I don't know what this filter or mask is called.
I have outlined the area with the pattern in red in the example image.

I guess then you should use Showcase and its "Insert Alpha" tool. You can combine two pictures (one being the actual photo and the other - the jagged "mask" you'd like to apply at the bottom).

My all time favorite for single fast editing is ShowPPC.
Sad there is no more development or modern version of this nice tool…
