I am trying to install japanese support in MorphOS. I tried installing JKFFDisp v.1.08. It installs a topaz/16 font. Well, the installer copies it to Fonts: and after running FixFonts it's supposed to be recognized... But is it any FixFonts command in MorphOS? I could only find the Freetype 2 font manager...

At least I like be able to read japanese web pages...

Also, my keyboard is japanese. Is there any japanese keymap? How do I test the keyboard? In workbench there was a virtual keyboard, so you could see which key you were typing. It's because I want to find Help and Amiga keys in this keyboard! Is there Amiga key in morphos? I want copy/paste shortcuts!

    Thank you!

I don't know the exact layout of the japanese keyboard, but i expect you have also windows keys on it.

    Amiga keys -> Window keys
HELP key -> Window Menu Key

For the japanese support I suggest to give the japanese tools pack @ morphos-news.de software section a try.

Thanks for the link. I was already trying that. But there's no much documentation... I downloaded the And the one I find is rather old. So, for instance, I couldn't make the system recognize topaz/16 font yet. No FixFonts in MorphOS.

I downloaded the MorphOSJapaneseSupport bundle, which comes with an older version of JKFF and Charabia, and no much documentation on installation.

    Well, first things first.

at last I managed to edit a japanese keymap using KME. But the keyboard has more keys that I can edit. How can I solve that? Some keys I press don't seem to react at all.... :(

    Here's the keymap:

I tried to install some japanese truetype fonts on MorphOS. I copied MSMINCHO.TTC from windows and selected it with the font manager, and using the japanese codepage, from:

    http://www.unicode.org/Public/MAPPINGS/VENDORS/MICSFT/WINDOWS/CP932.TXT

But the resulting font doesn't seem to work for displaying japanese... (.otag file should be bigger, shouldn't it?)

    Any idea? Thanx!

Thank you for try use JKFFDisp.

JKFFDisp use only font name "topaz/16".
And font bitmap from "kanji.font.all" (include JKFFDisp108.LZH).
Because Japanese kanji have over 5,000 charactors and overflow amiga font file.

How to append font name "topaz/16" on MorphOS?

    or

What is fixed size bitmap font(16x16) name on MorphOS?
I try update JKFFDisp for use another font name.

It seems all the system uses by default XEN font, isn't it?

Anyway, there's no fixfonts or any topaz.font since topaz it's internal....

Thanks for the info on AOS3.9. Anyway, I only have a Pegasos-II and MorphOS 1.4. Of course, I downloaded from Aminet a lot of Amiga software, but sometimes from the comments on this forum it seems like I had to buy AOS 3.5 or 3.9. If I had an Amiga m68k around, maybe I would do it... but for the Pegasos...

I think fixfonts create fontsize cache "(fontname).font"

    I will try ...
    1. I create another font "jkff/16".
    2. JKFFDisp update for another fontname.
    3. Archive JKFFDisp109.LZH include fontsize cache "jkff.font"

Please wait for some(or many) day.

    (in japanese) "MorphOS" dame jan.

I went up to the location of JPMos files but the site does no longer exist!

I searched MorphOS Files, Aminet and MorphOS Database but they have no stored any copy of it. :(

There is someone who has a copy of it? thanks in anticipation. :)
