Can it be, that this does not work properly any longer in the latest version...?
Now, there is in the first line something like "On 2024-06-06 wrote....", then a big space, and then comes the original text.

I would prefer (and I thougt, this was how it worked in version 1.31?!) a bigger empty space just at the beginning and then comes the original mail, including "On.....".

    Thanks!

    And a possibly second issue:

if I answer a mail from a mailing list, then the original mail is not quoted.

    Can anybody confirm this?

Since highlander opened a Bugtracker thread (7421) I guess we better move this one to there.

But short answer: I wasn't able to do a clean installation with 1.33.

Switching back to 1.26 (before update) still works OK.

For those encountering a crash popup on start: ignore the crash requester, open Iris' settings and either disable update check or enable 3 column view. Addressed in 1.34, due next week.

As a follow up for the problem with the crash popup at start:
You might have to change the settings.json file directly.
At least here making changes in the settings windon and "Apply" didn't save the settings (they do work now again after I got rid of the crash popup).

Obviously something bad happened with the latest Iris version:

additional to the "wrong spacing" descibed above, the formatting of the messages is completely destroyed!

I got a mail from someone, everything is fine: paragraphs, blank lines etc.
But as soons as I forward this mail to myself, I get chaos. Everything is lost, no formatting any longer.

    Please, check that. Thanks!

Check what exactly? Without a screenshot and the actual email that causes your problems I have nothing to do, really. You might want to forward the email as an attachment. That guarantees no changes to how you see it on the other end.

Of course I would have done it! But obviously it affects all mails!

In the last few days I have exchanged emails with various people, and when I reply to an email, the recipient receives these jumbled up emails.

So, I thought you would do it the same way as I did and pick up a mail you received and forward it to yourself. What happens?

Does it still have the formatting?

To be more precise: Iris somehow makes a mess of the citation. Always!

For regular Forwarding, Iris extracts the text of html emails, it does not even attempt to retain formatting. If you want to retain the formatting, your best option is to use 'Forward as Attachment'.

When replying, you have an option to keep original HTML (if present).

But I *really* can't do much to help you without examples (screenshots and actual mails that cause problems).

Jacek, this is not about hmtl mails, just plain mails. Here is a example: I write a mail to myself as follows:
    "Hu!

    123

    4555

    abc!"

    And what do I receive?

    "Hu! 123 4555 abc!"

I just checked this with Thunderbird under Windows, here it works corrctly. So, my mail provider is fine.
And it is thr same if you answer any mail: formatting will be destroyed.

Please, just do also this test and tell me, if it works for you. Thank you!

    Odd!!!

I have not changed anything in Iris. Just installing the latest versions. So I can only imagine that by updating the application, something was changed in the prefs/options...?

What option can I check which could explain the behaviour? Thanks!

Could you change your system language to English and start Iris in English? I have a suspicion this might be locales somehow.

Iris 1.36 is now available for download and via auto-update.

This version moves authentication of GMail/Outlook/Yahoo mail into a browser window presented within Iris, instead of launching Wayfarer. Several minor issues were also fixed.

Auto-update is veeeeeeery slow. For two or three minutes, your new window showing the progress stays empty. After that now I have one bar...

It's exactly the same code as downloads in Wayfarer...

    Iris 1.39 is now out!

Changes since the last public release:

    1.39
    - Location of the folder caches may now be changed in settings

    1.38
    - Faster displaying of messages that have already been downloaded to disk
    - When marking all messages in a folder as read, perform the action in steps instead of trying to mark all messages at once to workaround Outlook servers timing out

    1.37
    - Caching email contents locally is now several times faster
    - Enabling caching for folder or account immediately starts downloading all emails
    - Disabling local cache for folder or account wipes all downloaded emails
    - Fixed a bug where email address autocomplete wouldn't pick up any results from Contacts
    - Fixed a bug in SelectAll/None/Unread functionality when used from the mail list context menu

First of all, thanks for your hard work on this new email client, which offers some nice modern features!

I was using YAM 2.4 on my Pegasos2 since 20 years, until the system died last week. Now, after switching to the MacMini with the latest MorphOS, I thought it's about time to try a new client, which is still actively supported.

Here is a short list of problems I am facing, after the first few days:

    - No import/export function (for mbox format?).

    - The client seems to be quite slow, compared to YAM on my Pegasos2, which had only half the power of the Mini.

    - I prefer to write and reply in pure ASCII and I need a fixed font for tables and listings. Unfortunately I was not able to select any fixed font in the settings.

    - I found no option to set an automatic line break (for example after 72 characters). Also an option to automatically reformat quoted mails according to this setting would be nice.

I can live with the first two issues. But the last two are quite important to me. :)
