"More" as in "two in every 5" or as in "one in every 6"? ;-)

Not every active user paints, and not everyone of those who do, will find PPaint particulary useful today. And as long as the minor issues in the Amiga version has been fixed (which I suppose is the case now?) then this version should work just fine, and be completely sufficient IMHO. MorphOS is generally very good at running Amiga applications.

As a side note, I think it's interesting to see how MorphOS and AROS users are being asked to "guarantee" that certain sales figures will be reached as a condition for work to even start, while on OS4 they just do it.

I bet some people will buy it mostly to support development. 180 MorphOS sales should not be impossible. But I wonder why it will take hundreds of hours of development? Can't they use the AmigaOS 4 version as a base for the MorphOS port? Or are they using a really strange, non-portfriendly programming language or something?

I also thought that was odd. But my guess is that Trevor is funding that port (at least partly) himself.

They didn't ask for a garuantee though. Just that there are "180 potential buyers".

Another url for the same new page http://www.ppaint.com/

7.3 seems to be buyable there without Amistore app now too (paypal+web dl) for £15+expenses.

I would be interested to hear if it works under MorphOS... I'd buy if it works for sure, but I'll have to think little or hear some comments how it is before paying to betatest it ;)

One guy did a quick test with Amiga Forever's 7.2 version under MorphOS, but he said something that menus seem to work, but otherwise screen was garbled.... but it wasn't tested better if some setting would have helped or so.

Unfortunately there is no demo version.
Nervertheless perhaps I would buy it for my good old A4000.

Their primary support is on OS4. We just have to accept it. It is their money.

I tried to offer my Efika to Andy Broad to test PPaint 7.3 on MorphOS but AmigaKit rejected my offer before Andy had a chance to answer.

Do they really need hundreds of hours of development time if they already have it working natively for AOS 4? I mean, MorphOS and AmigaOS 4 API is resonably similar right?

Hundreds of hours of development time refers to developing new version. They are not going to recompile current PPaint to MorphOS.

But my assumption is that 68k version works on MorphOS as good as native version would. It just isnt tested so we dont know for sure.

I think the best would be to ensure that 68k version would work under MorphOS, that would be better than no new versions at all. If it doesn't work, I guess it's easier to get it fixed than asking full MorphOS port... Andy said it should work if old version did work, but somehow I don't have that strong feeling because of those some OS4 or screendragging changes :) Someone should try, heh.. I don't know yet if it's me or someone else ;)

Well, they are going to develop new versions for AOS 4 too, so my question is still valid.

If they are going to keep OS3 builds then MorphOS build should be fairly easy.

    Even if it works,
68k version doesn`t have 24-bit palette as far as I do understand.

Do you think its worth of bounty? I would donate 10 euros to ensure PPaint
keeps development on MorphOS native, as well as to show AEON that MorphOS crowd
could also be potential market :-)

but also it makes better usage of the more modern API functions and can promote screens to 24bit allowing smoother integration (no monitor resync it screen switching) and true colour previews in the Story Board.

To me only relevant improvement (to MorphOS user) appears to be true colour previews. I dont know why it could not be done with AOS 3.x APIs (using CGX API where available).

As far as I understand, actual painting in OS4 version is still done in 8 bits too (hint). Only some preview windows or whatever are 24bit? Doesn't sound too important to me...

I don't know if people will pay twice, because it's a commercial program afterall. Unless you can guarantee that bounty payers get the program too then :)

OS4 version does neither, apart from "true colour previews in the Story Board".

Edit: Didn't see that jPV already answered this.

How about pre-order then? You pledge to pay the amount of the program that is returned if no program emerge.

It only make sense of course if they get 24 bit to work to begin with.

When there is an AmigaOS-3-Version, it is very easy to create a MorphOS-Version, too.

It is easier to build MorphOS native version from OS3 version than from OS4 version.
