ahh. ahem. Something this major I expected there to be a news item for! I moved into my own flat a few weeks ago but net is still only at my parents place so i only get to check email/websites once a week now, and if an item isnt in the "recent forum items" list then i dont go hunting for them!! :) hence my double post.

Oh, and im getting lazer eye surgery on the 30th so hopefully after that I wont need glasses at all!!!! :-)

    Cheers!

good luck with the surgery, all my friends that had it are very satisfied with it and got 10/10 on each eye. I wish i could do the same, but my eyes are way too f***ed up for lazer or regular surgery for now.

but you're right, this deserved some proper news.

does it work with MOS 1.4.4? it's written, that it does with 1.4.5. i got some problems with 1.4.5 (doesn't boot here) so i kept the 1.4.4, and the poseidon 3.2 works, but it's preferences crashes in the system prefs window. (alone it works), is the cause the 1.4.4?

    thanks and bye, MarK.

You made my day. Thanks a lot. Ah yes, and disabling/freezing the PoPo task will break some other things.

Man, I'm pissed now... I think I'd should rather focus on other things then.

... pissed isn't the right word, but's the first word that comes to my mind. Come on, does it always have to be one individual "Dan Gaines" or "dontbother", that manages to f*ck it all up? Ruin my motivation, kill every bit on energy that's still there? Poseidon for MorphOS was not restricted regarding functionality. But it looks like this was the wrong method. The less I restrict the software, the faster the cracks appear (see Deli14BitGenie). Time for consequences...

    You’re the colour,
you’re the movement and the spin.
Could it stay with me the whole day long.
    Fail with consequence,
    lose with eloquence and smile.
    I’m not in this movie,
    I’m not in this song.
    Never.

    or

    But oh, those polaroid babies
    Taking chances with rabies
Happy to tear me to bits--
    Well, I’m calling it quits
    Yes, I’m calling it quits.

    Dear Chris,

*please* do not let kill your motivation by some stupid individuals - most people are really happy that you did that hard work with Poseidon V3.

Please keep in mind that you did not do that work for stupid idiots but for all the happy people that say "thank you" or pay the registration fee or both.

    Kind regards

  • Hello platon42,

I have removed the hack, the webpage is offline now and
i want to excuse me for that. My porpose was not to ruine
your great project. But that popups are simply too much and
i guess im not the only one with that opinion. Why popup
every 10 minutes and then the user have to wait twice as long
as after the last one. I'm not against popups. Popup once
after boot or even every hour would be okay, but this way
is a bit too annoying. You don't think so?

Anyway, please excuse my silly practice, i like Poseidon
as many other did and i want to thank you for that great
    work.

    Hi platon42!

    >Poseidon for MorphOS was not restricted regarding functionality.

Did you remove the "elbox" USB keyboard typing restrictions for v3.x which I requested one year ago?

    Btw - Happy birthday!

Your plan and motivation was making millions by selling shareware to all those million MorphOS and AmigaOS users, or what exactly was it? Can't have been the fun in just doing it.

Somehow I can't get the point in STILL offering shareware for a market that is so tiny that you get 2,50 Euro when 50% of all users buy your stuff.

Really makes me wonder what your motivation was in the first place to include these really cool nag requesters.

And what exactly were the terms for a poseidon3 license for MorphOS? Weren't these terms reached and this forced you to add those requesters?

In my opionion, it's so bad to ask for a creative work to be free. Focusing on MorphOS Poseidon, the author was also very moderate in price. He also seems to have answered to your question. As usual market laws apply as well, so it's up to you to pay or not to pay as it is my personal decision to buy a 60x40 oil sold in a street market for 300 euro.

Whenever I fight with my usb devices on windows and linux
I'm happy just because I can tell myself: Poseidon would work.

Poseidon is one of the few pieces software you can show when you
want to make a ms user think about changing to a pegasos ...

I like to be able to PAY for software that I use !

if you think popus are too much annoying just iconify the first popup you've got and you won't be bothered anymore. it's better than cracking such a wonderful piece of software isn't it ?

Hi, it's me 'dontbother' and i want to confess.

Sometimes i'm out of control and then i do silly and infantile things like making a crack and releasing it under a false nick. I can't say why i doesn't put all my energy in my projects, sometimes such things happen with me. I hope people can forgive my parctice, specialy platon42 and i want to exuse me again for that.

    I have to agree...

    Leo.
Nothing hurts a project more than developers not taking the time to let their community know what is going on.

I'm surprised at you if this was this case.. :-x

I'm also surprised at this thread. I mean for MOS users Chris provided the program for free with suggested donations. If you register he sends you the keyfile and the popups go away. Why would anyone need to 'crack" it?? Now he is pissed off and one of our few valued developers for the platform... happy??

I wonder, which version of Posedidon you talk about ? I installed the V3.2 Update for MOS on my System and the only requesters I get are those which tell me that a new device has been inserted/removed. But these can be switched off in Poseidon Prefs...

oh....maybe im just imagening these requesters telling me to wait ~1000 secs
before i click the smile button ?

I think he implemented the wrong solution for this, and if he wanted every
Morphos user to donate, he should just say so, instead of this annoying stuff.

A better way is to pop the requester when a mass storage device was inserted,
then the users focus isnt on the screen working with something, and the annoyance
is gone, but the purpose of the reminder is still there.

Imagine working in a paint program in its own screen, aiming at that pixel
*swish* screen cycles and that fuc*king requester sits there, every 10
    fuc*king minute

And where is the 'crack' he talks about ? you cant crack free software, and you
can crack unrestricted software, it just makes the system usable again where the
user have full control of the computer.
And this doesnt remove the awareness of the user, that its nice to donate for
    something you use everyday.

And a donation is something you choose to do yourself, requesters popping up
every 10 mins with increasing delay doesnt suggest donation, its plain
'pay to get this software usable'.
I bet peoples willingness to donate would be better without these requesters.

I tried donating 1eur, but it was rejected....and i did it because i felt forced.
For me it was either pay or downgrade to the free version.

I'll try 2eur then, just to get the system usable...i dont donate anything here,
if i do, i also donate in the shop for the food i put in the basket.
