    Good news!! Read below!

    MorphOS OFFICIAL PRINTER PATCH released
Under the title link you can find the MorphOS team's official printer patch for MorphOS 1.4, hosted by the german dealer Axel Knabe Büro- & Informationsservice.

The patch comes with an installer and fixes the printing problems under MorphOS 1.4 on Pegasos I + II computers. After the installation you have to delete your old printer config files and create & save completely new ones.

Axel Knabe thanks Frank Mariak, Ralph Schmidt and the remaining MorphOS team for the enabling of this release. (snx)

    @ Acill

    Great news! :-)

Lots of people (myself included) wished for the MorphOS developers to release certain components and fixes in the meantime, while we are waiting for the next major OS release. Well what do you know, it looks like "the corpse" is actually kind of moving! :-)

One down, ten to go! :-)

Just got done test everything I have that can print with 100% results.
I am using a Brother laser printer. Model HL-1440 with the printer
selected in MorphOS as HP Laserjet 3. Nice and clear. Perfect for
anthing you could need to print.

    @takemehomegrandma,

    I use a canon i865.
Dont forget some printers are too new and theyr driver is not included
    on MOS TP.
I use the MOS TP where I inserted the I86x driver from the last 68k
    TP I bought..

    Greetings!

This is great news! I have just one question-where are the prefs for
the old printer, which I'm supposed to delete, kept at in the system?
I deleted the prefs in the system printer prefs gui, so it show no
printer at all is configured right now. Is that enough?

Also, I'm reminded once again how cool MOS is-200K for a printer fix??
as in, Kilobytes??!! I'm used to the ten or twenty meg monsters that
Win and Mac seem to require to fix anything. :-/

Keep up the good work guys!!

    Tron Man!!!

The only thing I have that I know should print is Papyrus. Currently I
have my Epson Stylus Colour 860 connected via usb
    (usbparallel.device:0)

Whilst Papyrus prints...it bears no relation to what's on the
screen...seems like I mostly get a black or a coloured page instead of
a document. Given the huge # of bugs in that program, I'd rather blame
Papyrus Office....waste of money so far.

I need to connect the printer via parallel port to test...

A simple type redirection to PRT: does actually print text now :-)

Update....seems if I disable Papyrus Internal Printing Queue...Papyrus
actually prints a document...need to get it to quit printing LF and CR
    mark-up chars though ;-)

I guess it must be enough to delete whats in the GUI prefs editor :-)

I've got a Hewlett Packard 932c printer connected via usb at
usbparallelel.device unit 0, and it prints wonderfully from FxPaint
and from MorphED. The 'More' utility doesn't seem to want to print
though, nothing ever happens when its 'print' menu item is selected.
I dunno if that is the print system's fault or if its the More utility
itself. I'm using the stock settings for the privided driver though.

It prints MUCH faster than my Mac does, too! I didn't know this
    printer could go so fast!

Kudos to the MOS team! One less use for a compy that isn't my Pegasos
    :-D :-D

I got ImageFX 4.1 printing...MorphED too. ArtEffect didn't print (and
actually hung up the printer queue somehow)

...and Graphics Publisher from full Turboprint is working.

What about net printing? I have my printer shared on PC (because family use it much more then me).

Will be MOS available to manage net printing?

on Pegasos1 the new parallel.device isnt copied, because it doesn't work on it. Nevertheless, has anybody tested it on Peg by copying by hand ?

Epson C42UX - works :). It's not supported by MOS TP, but I copied Epson_StylusC42.tpp from TurboPrint for Linux FreeEdition (available from www.turboprint.de) and it works :)

Tried a bunch of drivers (even some from the linux version of TP ;-) ) but I can't get a HP 3320 usb to work. Peg1 here; maybe that's the problem? Shame the thing doesn't have a serial port.

So we're on the same boat... HP 3420 here, that should be compatible with yours (Ghostscript under Linux uses the same driver). I'll give it a try with the Linux TurboPrint driver for the 382x, have you tried it?

    Kind regards,
    Andrea

I tried the linux ppc printer driver for my brother HL-1440 using the
1450 driver. It just locks up turbo print with a pendrive::cant find
page info or something like that eror?? I put the driver in the
    MOS/TP/Printers folder/

    Hi Jack,

Yes, you can print over a local network.

Right now I have an HP 6127 which is a network inkjet printer. All I had to do was use LPR-Device (on Aminet) and the appropriate driver and it works perfectly.

I have not tried this 1.4 fix yet, but it should still work.

    Best Regards,

    Matt

Yeah, tried both the 381x and the 382x drivers from the linux package, but no luck.

The only thing I can think of is Did you tick the "Epson Init Sequence" in usbparallel.device class settings in Poseidon?

    Trident->Classes->double click on printer.class

or mprefs->USB->Classes->double click on printer.class of course :-D
