ImageFX will not install in 2.6.
I just got my brand new copy in and it is incompatible with the current installer.
Anyone else have this issue or a workaround?

I didn't try IFX, but sometimes installer scripts work better with installer from AmigaOS 3.x. No need to replace the MorphOS one, just right-click, "open with" and choose the 68k installer.

Hmm weird, it used to straight install on morphos 1.x.. kermit made sure of that.. can you run a log utility and tell what is says?

If you ordered it from Nova Design, call them up i'm sure they will help. Or from the dealer you got it maybe?

    Problem solved.
I opened it with the original 3.1 installer.
You also have to switch it from a NOVICE install INTERMEDIATE or you cannot see all of the things that can be installed inlcuding the Power Station and extras.
I just joined the ImageFX yahoo group to get some basic help.
The effects it does do are high quality.
I'd like to find a CD full of good quality effects to add on to it.
I was told I could perform batch operations but I do not see how yet.
I need to mass convert ebay pictures by resizing them.
There are also no thumbnails when browsing jpegs.
I worked out the prefs to use 1440x900x24bit and I got the thing to print to my laser printer.
It'd be nice if it could scan from my usb scanner.
I cannot get even SCANdal to do that.
Still got PhotoGenics to learn also.

I'd say ShowGirls (older version included in MorphOS) would be the best for that. It has good basic options for image processing and batch converting.

ShowGirls has that too ;) It's just a lot more comfortable for image processing in many cases (especially photo handling) than traditional full featured painters/processors.

I'd recommend ArtEffect too. I have occasional needs to process and modify images and while I'm not pro with any of the programs, I find ArtEffect to be the easiest to get the job done as I want.

As far as I remember you need to use "AutoFX" for that.

    @bash64

IFX will not be able to generate thumbnails under MorphOS 2.0+. This is a known issue with a library name conflict.

Hmmmm, I suspect that would be "thumbnails.library" ?

Shouldn't it be possible to rename the IFX library of the same name and than use a HEXEditor on the main binary to change any string to "IFXthnails.library" ?

The library problem has been removed. MorphOS library now is called "thumbnails.library", while ImageFX one is called "thumbnail.library".

    Well,
I am a little disgusted. The first time I tried showgirls it acted like crap and I couldn't even get it to display anything. I just ran it and found out it has everything I needed. I just wasted $80 on ImageFX. Alas.
I guess I'll keep ImageFX until I can learn what it can do. Perhaps it si way more advanced.
In the end I might sell ImageFX.

Is this a fix that you did yourself with a hex editor as suggested in the previous message, or has a change been made in a later version of MorphOS to fix the conflict without the need for user intervention?

I just tried to install my ImageFX4.5 Studio, but can't because the CD is barely readable (probably a slight scratch), but if I can get it resurfaced so it can be read reliably, I had planned on trying to install it again.

The fix is mentioned in the release notes for MorphOS 2.1.

Thanks for the clarification, I only asked after Jacek wrote that it would not work. He must have forgotten, or never been made aware of the fix that was done in v2.1.

I hope my disc can be fixed (if it is only a scratch causing the problem) so I can get it installed this week.
