What is the best Low Price Scanner for SCANdal?

    Hi Guys
    Like the title says what is a very good usb scanner for Morphos Scandal software? I have a nice Umax scanner but its Firewire only :( I use it with xp and my pc (only drivers that are free) and would love to have the scanner hooked to my peg2 with morph... please post what you are running for a scanner or suggest to run. thanks

    Days ago I paid 10 euro for an Epson 1640 + TPU, it works fine :-)
    Maybe Helios will support your Umax someday...

    @magnetic: run helios, plug the scanner and send me the serial log ;-)

    There is a huge chance that these FW scanners use SBP2 protocol.
    SBP2 is SCSI cmd over FW. So Scandal has just to send SCSI cmd to the correct sbp2.device unit and nothing more.

    [EDIT] There is already the Umax driver for Scandal. so just give sbp2.device and the correct unit number. that's all.

    Wow. when i get back to LA i'll give it a go! How do i determine the unit number?
    Also do i have to compile the Helios stack?
