    Hi,

I thought I would ask again, what's the status of the QNX port for the Pegasos?

Also I see Yellow Dog listed as know to work with the Pegasos. But there is no installer, right? Status on this please. I would not mind helping out on this one, debugging etc. I really want to have Yellow Dog. :-)

QNX is coming along well- it has been booted with a GUI, but it's not ready for release yet- but you didn't hear that ok! ;)
And I suppose it really will need to be ported to the Pegasos2 as well.

very cool. would it really be that diferent between peg1 and peg 2 that it would take a lot of extra work?

Is there any date (roughly) when we can expect to see QNX?

At the moment us Peggy users have the choice of 50-60 different Linux distros (OK, I exagerrate ;-)), and not a lot else in the way of alternative OSes, I mean how many Linuxes do we need!
I'd rather see 1 Linux done very well that all people who want to use Linux can unite around, bugs will be found quicker, and we can all help each other out.

I really want to see QNX on the Peg, it's a very powerful and polished system, I'm very suprised it hasn't taken off more in the PC scene, as it run rings around most of the other alt. OSes.

I have no idea when we can expect it- but I suppose that you'll have to wait at least until the Peg2 is out, as I suppose there's no point releasing it, until it's working on a Peg2.

@poundsmack I don't know myself, but I agree, I don't think it would take much work, as the Smart Firmware should be pretty much the same?

Ants is right. All the basics have been accomplished, but the final tuning will happen on the Pegasos II.

For the record, does it run on pre Peg 2 hardware?

That is the whole issue Coder. We have 50 external Developer machines being delivered in December to selected Developers. Chris of QNX is one of those people. He will need to have it working correctly before QNX can release it. This in itself is notable as it will be the first release for PPC...:-)

    Hi,

Well you got to admit, were A1 runs Linux and (the soon to be released?) OS4, the Peg will run a lot of other systems too. And that, is a great thing. A lot of people might go MOS/Linux? Linux I can do on my PC and MOS I never heard of and that is certainly not making me buy it. But seeing that QNX, OpenBeos and so many more OS's will run on the Peg they are likely to buy it. And then they try MOS and they go, all be damned it is GREAT! :-)

In the end they will focus on one OS but to get them to buy a Peg they have to be able to run a lot.
