    I am looking for a way to play Macromedia Flash Video, as on YouTube. I found the instructions for Flayer but my version of MPlayer wouldn't work.

    I think the newest builds of MPlayer can decode this format but where can I get it from ? I found 1.0pre4 but it didn't recognise the file I tried it on.

    Thanks!

    You can find it at the usual location.

    Ugh! I didn't know about this mplayer 0.91 version with ARexx... How many different mplayer versions are out there for MorphOS? Could somebody please list them here, possibly with their advantages and drawbacks?

    Available mplayer for MorphOS versions:
    - 0.91 with ARexx, from "www.amirus.org.ru".
    - 1.0 rc1 from "fabportnawak.free.fr".
    - 1.0 pre4 from "WARP design".

    I didn't think it's mplayer with an AREXX port, just mplayer being called by an AREXX script.

    Hi all,

    Those who plays animations downloaded from YouTube, like me, must know
    that are two versions of MPlayer are needed: "mplayer1.0pre8-test.lha"
    for older animations that "mplayer1.0rc1.lha" can not play ! However "mplayer1.0rc1"
    plays the newest animations ! Therefor, i've installed both MPlayer versions !

    Err, what kind of files doesn't 1.0rc1 play?

    jcmarcos,
    newer versions of MPlayer also have the same AREXX port i added in 0.91. Dunno why this file is hosted on amirus.org, but nevermind. :)

    Hi Fab,

    mplayer1.0rc1 plays some (older) .flv animations to fast, they ended to soon !
    For sure, newer .flv animations requires mplayer1.0rc1
    Real media animations are played to fast too, is there an option to
    slowdown mplayer ?

    Thanks for the information, Fab. Being responsable for the MorphOS version, I dare to ask you... Is it remotely possible to play regular DVDs in my Pegasos I G3 with Radeon 9250? I've been able to play one, but frame skipping is mandatory.
    I've been reading the tremendous, amazing, overwhelming original MPlayer manual, and I've seen some "fast" options to simplify decoding. Would they help?
    Is there information about the subset of options that MPlayer for MorphOS supports?

    I didn't notice that at all with flv files. This speed bug affects some mov files sometimes, tho. Anyway it was probably a bug in mplayer demuxer (and/or crappy file formats) at the time i compiled it from svn.

    You can always set playback speed with -fps <value>.

    I don't undestand how to view YouTube videos with MPlayer. Specifying the url of the video doesn't work. Anyone cares to explain to me how?

    Edit: I'm talking about streaming. I can play the video if i download first.

    There are several options, but I've been using getvideo-script from Aminet. You can play videos from youtube by streaming or you can save videos to disk. I have configured "Play video" and "Save video" menu items for IBrowse...

    @ThePlayer
    I have the latest version from Fab's website. Are you saying the "MPlayer url" works? What arguments are you using?

    @jPV
    Thank you! I've got it working.
    It doesn't work with MOSNet though, because it doesn't have a TCP: device. Not a big deal but, is there another way that i could use to stream videos with MOSNet?

    Ok. I see that tubex doesn't need a TCP: device. I will try it.

    Maybe you can get the TCP: device working with MOSNet too. Copy needed files (inet-mountlist and inet.handler) from AmiTCP and try to mount it?
