    Do you think that this could be nice for 3D graphics? And what about
    port to MorphOS as openexr.library or something?

    Looks good, I would not mind having that as a tool for MOS at all! Could it be done?

    That looks great! I think a working OpenEXR datatype/library would
    help get a foot in the door for nVidia card support, just a thought.
    That could help Peg with MOS be more marketable to artistic types,
    IMHO.

    BTW, anyone seen Targhan around?

    @Tronman

    The real goal isn't nvidia or graphics card support, the real reason
    is that seems a good file format that can be used as an standard,
    and It's Open...

    Why worry about nvidia? We have ATI that has better products (less hot, smaller and less power required).

    Its something we sure could use. Does anyone know more about it? Since its open maybe one of the better coders on here can take a look at the code and see if it can even be of use on MorphOS.

    You mean like moi ? :roll:

    And yet another thread where people talk without understanding.......

    No it is not a 3D-file-format.
    It ain't even a vector-format.
    it is just a format to store bitmaps a highest quality

    It does offer some features for lossless image-manipulation and such like, but that all.

    A datatyp for this would give just the same quality as a JPG/IFF/PNG/??, and library would only make sense if we would have a high-quality image-processing app (which ain't have).

    This might be an idea for someone allready doing a Photoshop-clon, but is completly pointless as a standalone port.

    Haven't looked at the source, but from what the website states it shouldn't be too much trouble.

    However, I doubt it'll make much sense to port it to a library or datatype. How many OpenEXR images do you come across every day that you want to view?

    From what I read, this seems to be a very good and clever image format. However, most of its features that set it apart from other file formats would not apply if you'd turn it into a library or datatype (since when can datatypes read 32 bit floating point images or make use of tiled images?).

    This could be of use for developers of applications who want to make use of some special properties of the format. Then you could take the code from the website and put it into your program. Shouldn't be too much trouble. But IMHO it's a pro format and most "standard" formats will just do what you want.

    okay, time for a stupid question

    What if someone wanted/needed to reproduce accurately flourescent red/orange/yellow/green ? and maybe even gold/chrome/silver? into say 3D object textures.

    (I'm just thinking of a game that could massively benefit from it)

    an no the game doesnt exist for Morphos {fwiw}
    I am ; therefore you are

    Not only for pictures, non-linear video editing too...
