Hm. I just have an old K6 with 350 MHz as as spare-computer, running Linux. I don't think that I want to see MorphOS on that machine. It will be like running Win95 on PC Task...

More interesting would be Morphos on MoL, to use Morphos on an iBook:-))

    well... http://nogfx.free.fr/peg.jpg ;)
Nothing hurts a project more than developers not taking the time to let their community know what is going on.

I hear it works, but its slow and a bit buggy still. Just give it a try for yourself. I for one dont care about it. I have a real PPC machine so why use something slow like this?

Emulating a PowerPC to run MorphOS on x86 is nonsense. The main weapon, and key features of MorphOS is it's small overhead and high responsiveness. By running it in a bloated emulation you loose both of these. So _maybe_ it will be possible to _run_ MOS on x86 in an emulator, but will _NOT_ be possible to _USE_ it up to it's full capabilities.

This is the same problem i always had with Amithlon. It's maybe 10 or more times faster in raw CPU speed than my good old 060 based Amiga, but never will be able to give the same speed-feeling and responsiveness the real thing provides.

Well, the better thing is ever have the original machine to run perfectly his OS. :)
Altrough i can run Mac software on Linux, the better things is have a REAL machintos to run MacOS...

I'm think emulations is useful when:

1-Original Machines, hardware and software, are not longer avaiable or selled (Arcade cabinet, Vic20, Commodore 64, Nintendo consolles, maybe Commodore Amiga). Only way to use again this soft is to emulate it.

2- Lacking of ported software: actually "emulation" is really need for MorphOS becouse we haven't, for me, many native software to run on our platform. So, if there is a good title and we lack of the machine to run it, an emulator is nice (like Playstation, Gamecube, and so, a lot of games which probably never see a Pc porting).
For me there is not too sense "emulate" linux if we can install the native PCC version on our machine (at least a similar work can be good for the developer to learn some programming tricks).

Maybe this emulator can help to make MorphOS more know... but, becouse MorphOS have lesser native software respect to Windows and MacOS, there is really need to emulate it? Maybe for fun, ok, but I don't sure if there is pratical need to do it.

    Bye

I think it'll be very useful for people investigating MorphOS for the first time, only the most adventerous are going to spend the money on the Pegasos if they don't really know what they are getting. This way PC users can at least see awhat MorphOS is all about albeit without the high responsiveness.

At this point in time the emulator is said to be deadly slow but it should be possible to speed it up to fairly reasonable levels. Emulating a PPC on an x86 is always going to be a complex and slow process due to the differences in the architectures but a JIT should help out a lot.
