I know there is no real midi sequencer package
available to amiga or morphos Yet.

So i was just wondering if anyone has in the works
or was thinking about this?

i would love to ditch my Wintel box for a morphOS
system with a good sequencer

Camouflage for the amiga was quite good.
however the author seems not interested it at all.

I'm planning to write a sequencer for MorphOS that uses MIDI communication internally to talk to its VST-like plugins (generators and modulators). Something like Fruity Loops, not like Cubase. The focus is on virtual instruments and effects, not on harddisk recording. Controlling external MIDI devices and being controlled by them is of course a big part of it, but I'm still gathering information.

Is there a "standard" way of doing MIDI on the Amiga and/or MorphOS? What hardware do people use to give their Amigas or MorphOS machines a MIDI interface? I don't think there are USB drivers available for any of the MIDI hubs on the market.

Poseidon already supports MIDI keyboards...

MIDI support in MorphOS is, well, mostly inexistant currently.

No camd.library for interfacing with Poseidon's camdusbmidi.class for example.

I have looked at that already.

Quite some work would be needed to improve the situation.
- rework the camdusbmidi.class to get ride of the 68k blob that handle communication with camd.library
- port/rewrite camd.library
- write some preferences tool to manage all this mess.

And sure, that would be great to have.

Is also HDrec http://hd-rec.de/HD-Rec/index.php?site=home of course it's a beta but most of the things are functional. Last time I was tried long time ago but should be ok.

HD-Rec looks promising, there surely is some CAMD code to learn from. I'll look into it.

I'm still a heavy user of Bars&Pipes (on my Amiga 1200). There was an attempt to convert the program to MorpOS, but it was an attempt that didn't really had succes, alas!
So I'm still using my old Amiga for midi because I think it was and is the best midi-sequencer ever written.

I looked into Kjetil S. Matheussen's reimplementation of the camd.library today, which can be found at github.com/kmatheussen/camd
It was developed for AROS, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem to make it work with MorphOS.
He added an alternative driver interface, but seems to support only the serial port anyway, like the original library did.
Someone will have to add support for the Poseidon USB MIDI class, as was previously mentioned in this thread.

On the site of Alfred Faust you can find B&P for Morphos.
In the lha.archive there's also camd.library working via the gameport. Look here: http://bnp.hansfaust.de/download/BnPMOS_1_05.lha
It was possible to record and to play B&P, but the program freezes to much to be usable on Morphos.
I'm no programmer, but perhaps this can help you.
