When listening to mp3s while browsing, every time I click a link, Kaya
kind of farts, which is quite annoying.

    I'm using on-board sound.

Anyone else experience this or know how to solve it?

Well it makes a strange sound. The best way i can describe it is that
if Kryten from Red Dwarf farted, it would probably sound like that.

If it happens with Voyager, it might be related to a bug that happens if no AREXX is available. Voyager disables multitasking for a while in that case afair.

It is Voyager. Guess I'll just put up with it for now.

    Thanks anyway.

You can do that, but you could also try to get ARexx working. Have a look here.

    Hi Robert,

Voyager eats lots of CPU at times, which seems to
cause some jitters in the onboard sound - on my system
even with AREXX active. I suspect the problem is less
    noticeable on G4 systems.

I bought a cheapish Sound Blaster "Live!" card, which
finally solved the problem for me. The output quality
is also far improved over the onboard sound (reduced
noise, and better overall sound reproduction).

I did this too but recently swapped it out to my A1 as the onboard sound in the A1 doesn't work at all (and is never likely to, as far as I can tell.) This probably explains why I never noticed it before.

I suppose I could buy another soundcard.

According to TaskManager, it'll hit near 100% usage...especially
when it's loading up big/bloated sites like ebay. The usage peaks
seem to coincide with the sound jitters.

I definately could be wrong, but it's my best guess! :)

hey, how can you control your in/output leves with
    your sb-live card?
I want the amithlon-mixer (v2.1) for my SB-live card, which mixer has you?

    Ciao MaSch

    Isn't that really inefficient?
Do other browsers behave like this?

    hello Robert,

it is kaya fault too, the "playtask" is at a lower priority than it
should be, so it is excessively sensitive to the surrounding events
    this problem has been fixed

    @MaSch

I haven't tried to mess with the levels yet, I just got
the card the other day. If I find something that works I'll
    post it here. :)

Nah, not really. The sound on my Athlon will skip in a
similar way when I scroll through the window with IE.
OSX browsers appear to me even worse. IBrowse is a little better
than Voyager in this regard, but then again, Voyager is much
faster. I don't think much of it is really even browser -
centric, but just moving display data around in general is CPU
    intensive.

I should also correct myself, Voyager on it's own won't peak
at 100% usage, I meant "total" usage (like Voyager plus Kaya/
    AmiNetRadio/etc).
