    Just a little hyperbole to get the morning started!

    I absolutely love the combination of ShowGirls and WAManager for MorphOS. I'm currently doing a lot of scanning of old family photos and these two applications make my job that much easier (now if I could only get SCANdal to work with CanoScan 630).

    A note to kiero: Have you ever considered breaking out the image processing functions into a separate application dedicated less to organization and viewing than to manipulation and editing? For example, I'd love to be able to use the noise-reduction function on a directory full of images (batch processing) that I can't do with ShowGirls currently (only some filters are offered in batch processing). Also, your 'Curves' tool is head and shoulders better than both ImageFX and FXPaint, two programs I use most for manipulation.

    I'd hate to see ShowGirls grow too big and bloated for its own good. I like best that it opens immediately and lets you get on with the business of viewing and organizing (and with WAManager, sending them to Picasa).

    One last note: How come ShowGirls is SO BLAZINGLY FAST when it comes to resizing images? I downsize hundreds of images for my 800x600 digital picture frame and ShowGirls accomplishes the task in seconds. I don't know how it's working so fast!

    I look forward to all updates and keep up the good work!

    I agree. ShowGirls is fantastic and Kiero to.

    Actually ShowGirls only needs a very simple slideshow function and more options for batch processing.

    it does the job, it does it fast.
    not only one of the best morphOS apps, i'd scope to one of the best amiga apps.

    coded by the megahero anyway.

    ShowGirls is the best image viewer!

    I'd like to see an option to load next images until memory is filled because Efika is too slow to show big photographs and if Showgirls loaded images "in the background" while another images are shown it would make my Efika much more useful.

    Yes batch options should be freely addable, ability to pick them up from the existing Process tools which are available. Sometime one needs sharpen only, sometime one needs levels and curves and resize, somtime one needs any other combination...

    Using it every day I must say that it's a great piece of software which does quality wise in comparision with PhotoShop a very good jop.

    I said it in the past: the only thing I am missing sadly is a printout-function (probably postscript) and the possibility to arrange different numners of pictures on one sheet.....but the rest of Showgirls is a perfect peece of software.....

    You can do much more advanced batch processing with some help of Arexx. This requires writing some scripts for each processing. Some time ago I successfuly processed a lot of pictures by adding a text taken from file comment at bottom of the image. I know that this is not the most user friendly way of solving the problems, but at least it works quite fine.

    That is good advice, but by the time an average user writes and learns the Arexx scripts he could have already processed all the images :)

    One thing cool about Image Fx is powerful batch processing and my fav Macro recording.. which leads me to think Kiero could you introduce macro recording to SG?

    actually you can do slideshow with showgirls by turning on the album manager. theres a "slideshow" button at the bottom of the right buttonbank above "options".
    i tried to push kiero to make it somewhat easier to handle slideshows but he refuses for some valid reasons.

    If i can keep binary size small (and with each version i do optimize/refactor old code to save some space) i will keep image processing functions together with organizing ones. When it comes to enhanced batch converter it will be done in next version. I'm in a process or merging some changes from experimental version and this will allow to save/load presets for each effect window and build custom processing chains for batch converter.

    This one is on my list since long time, but it's low priority.

    Unfortunately another low priority feature;) I don't do any printing and don't even have a printer connected, so...

    @slideshow

    Slideshows will be hopefully bit simplified in next version. Maybe also bit fancy but it depends how bored i will be;)

    @macro recording

    it's done in my experimental version. actualy it does something else but you can call it macro recoring/editing. needs more work so not for next version yet.

    @sixpack

    if only it would survive the trip;)

    @all

    aaaanyway, thanks for feedback. hopefully next version will not come in a year but sooner:)

    Thanks for the update! The batch converstion upgrades will be much appreciated.

    Now, on to WAManager... It already does pretty much what it's supposed to, so I don't know how much time you spend on it. But after filling up my free GB on Picasa, I've come up with some ideas:

    1. Tags: Could there be a way to upload pictures with WAManger to Picasa with tags embedded. The web interface for adding tags involves a lot of pointing and clicking. It would be really cool if you could add tags to the images in WAManager (one text field is enough), and just 'tab' over to the next image. It could all be done without touching the mouse!

    2. Uploading can sometimes fail for unknown reasons. I had a directory with hundreds of pictures, but it continuously failed at image number 91. And the 91st image was always a different image, because I'd de-select the previous 91. This particular problem didn't cause the program to crash but...

    3. Recently, I tried uploading dozens of images and at about number 43, the program crashed with an illegal exception, or something. If I lowered the number to about 36, I could finish each upload without a crash. (I'll try to get you a log of the exception.)

    Anyway, thanks a lot!

    The exact error is "Background CLI Illegal Instruction."

    I got this error on picture 34 of 202 (all wee processed with ShowGirls). It eventually took down the whole system as I tried to get the log out of ram:

    I'll try again to get the log.

    Wow! It's amazing how I end up thinking the same things years apart!

    I was back at scanning some family photos this week when I ran into a bunch that had a similar reddish hue marring some otherwise neat pictures. One by one, I was able to make them look tremendously better just by taking down the red, adding in some blue and green...

    Then I went up to the 'Batch Process' pull down and inspected the choices: NATCH! No color correction options...

    So I went to the internet and, lo and behold, came across this near three year old thread I started with the same request: More Batch Process options.

    Keiro is on record in this thread saying more was to come, but I never saw the update.

    Any progress to report?

    You could of course write your own arexx-script to handle the batch processing like you want it...

    Quickly looking ShowGirls has ARexx commands like LoadNext (next image in dir), BalanceRGB, SaveJPG and bunch of others too, but sounds like your job would be done with those?

    Is Kiero still developing this program, or available to continue working on it? I really like this program and I want to help improve it :)

    1. When I go full screen, I see a white line at the top. This I would like to be removed.
    2. I would also like to be able to go to the next picture using space.

    But this really is the best MOS viewer around! :-D

    If pagedown isn't enough for that, maybe you could use some software to map your space to pagedown :P I think MMkeyboard had possibility to make those kinds of mapping to certain program instead of becoming system wide :)

    Powerbook doesn't have pagedown so you have to use a workaround there with two keys.

    Plus, space is a nice, wide key that doesn't do anything :-) And every other picture viewer I use use space for that function.

    I'm still hoping someone out there has a solution for the white line at the top of the screen when I go fullscreen. It's a tad annoying since that's the only problem I have with the program now :p
