1 dumb people in Amiga community think that if they make problems where no problems at all there will be switch to some Linux based brainfart

As long as AROS x86 or MOS x86 is as on PPC to it will justify setting up separate box for it just like it is/was for PPC.

But Nemo is shelved, is expectations for 2020 are:

-Dont go Tabor, its cheap but x1000/x5000 debacle, even worse
    - I will go v4SA and enjoy it more then x1000 at cost-effective choice
    - I hope I will buy MOS x64 license for a PeeCee

Lincese says Broadcom FLOSS + glued by Hyperion.

I mean, you develop patched firware for routers to work on desktop.
Then you loose sources after two beta updates and public release.

Then you start developing onboard driver for ethernet. You outsource it,
programmers Nemo dies and you put bugged version of OS 4.1FE, never send
him replacement Nemo (I am willing to, just link me) and you put him to other task.

That is the way of support of OS4 dream machine.

As far as I understand, the issue is that one "you" is a different entity from the other "you". In addition, one of the entities likely never had the source code but just binaries.

Isn't the buggy driver only available for beta testers?

It is obvious that on x86 AROS or MOS will compete with Windows, macOS and linux.
Nobody sane will use MOS or AROS when the some work may be done in minuts on win/osx/lnx instead of hours on AROS or MOS.
MOS x86 in current form end as AROS x86 as worse uae.

From developer POV V4SA has not working MMU and decent OpenGL so it is still not good enough to compete with Amiga X1000 or Amiga 1222, and of course it is many times slower.

I dont get the updated info from thread? Anything new or different from what I have rad in past?

No, it is included on OS 4.1 Final CD

    System/devs/networks/ppp-ethernet.device 23.11.2014. 00:00

    http://amigax1000.blogspot.com/2017/01/amigaos-41-fe-updates-and-repaired-x1000.html

You are then asked to choose your network card. I got a bit excited when I saw that the built in X1000 network adapter is included as an option (we have to use a PCI network card under AmigaOS4.1.6). I selected the built in adapter and click on Test this Configuration:

    https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RI3_VFbMB9A/VK0jL9InRnI/AAAAAAAAKhI/blSzV5Iadao/s1600/IMG_6336.JPG

    https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-V6strDS-EAc/VK0jMB5zLRI/AAAAAAAAKhM/jgBVX7_-g-4/s1600/IMG_6337.JPG

Unfortunately it didn't work - I also subsequently found out the built-in network driver has dropout issues and shouldn't be used by X1000 owners at this time.

I am no developer. Real OpenGL on my x1000? Where? :) Dont call translation of a translation to some level GLES :) Smaller set we will have as miniGL by Hyperion? :) and StormMESA m68k once Vamp v4 gets a bit more 3D love. Still before OS 4.2 or Libre, I bet. And hardware wise its growing, V4 has space for m68k style MMU and much more.

    From user Vamp:
    - Has proven development on SW and HW FPGA core side
    - Is out of box Amiga compatibile
    - I prefer small bussiness to greedy milkers that lie and smile too often
    - I believe it will bring more AmigaOS related development, OS3+AROS

Yes, as usually, in the far-away future v4 will have decent OpenGL and working MMU.
Or not, as this whole natami crap prove.
    Amiga ppc has it NOW!!!
So dear vox don't compare something real with something that exist for now only in gvb imagination.

Buggy OS, buggy CFE, no aos AND no Linux support is real. Enjoy it.
Its on sale for price of new Tabor "complete sys" and with a bit less beta OS and drivers

In comment #1030 in that thread you acknowledged that he was sent a replacement Nemo while in this thread you now claim he wasn't.

    Indeed, thanks for the reminder.

Why not? GL4ES offers full OpenGL 2.1.

Well, the floor is pretty clean ;-)

And indeed hardware accelerated video playback is a nice achievement and pretty handy. But game changing... rather not.

User do not use any OS because it is "better"

They use it because of available and (in best case) exclusive software. And developers support a platform not because it is "better" but because of the users (and thus potential buyers). There is the big advantage of vampire (together with UAE)

The video playback is actually more powerful than demonstrated in the video.
Think up to Ultrawide 1600 res. Under 10% CPU usage for whatever multiple video combinations that work with currently available GPU ram (Sam460ex test machine).

Eventually being able to offload video decoding, encoding ,3D and 2D Graphics (Skia like) to the GPU would be Game changing for computers using Powerpc processors .

I said it's a nice feature and pretty handy an cpu weak computers, but this is not game changing, It's just catching up in one standard discipline.
    Not bad though, really not.

Personally, assuming mainstream video codecs are in fact supported which Spectre660 has not confirmed, I find it to be a million times more useful than being able to run smartphone games on desktop hardware.

That said, for better or for worse, media consumption on desktop computers has moved towards web browsers. If a 50 EUR tablet can smoothly play videos on any HTML5-compliant web page but your 1000 EUR desktop computer struggles with 360P and you are expected to use semi-clunky external tools for smooth high-resolution playback that only support one or two video portals, then that would be less "game changing" and more "not even really in the game" territory.

Of course, as usual, none of this information is provided and people are expected to merely guess and speculate after reading 3,000 word blog posts and watching minutes of video footage.

    Quote:

    But game changing... rather not.

If you expect people to invest 700+ EUR on compatible mainboards and graphics cards, being able to play HD video is the bare minimum bar in 2020, I'd say. Not "game changing" but certainly an accomplishment.

That said, regardless of how smooth the playback might be, I myself could not stand watching videos with messed up color palettes so black looks grey...

Just a thought since you are trying to report what can be achieved here...

Most people would simply ask if they can play H/D or HiDef in sync and without frameskip using a high stress codec, which would be expected from almost any source these days.

PPC MPlayer is not getting bugs fixed. In fact the bug report was closed without being addressed for what is showing up in your Video and Audio codecs output.

It might be helpful to mention that it's not "462H", but "H264" for video codec, and it's not "A4PM" but "MP4A" for audio codec.
