Installation problem - Chrysalis

    Hi,

I am completely new to Morphos, I have just installed it on my Powerbook G4 15" with no problems :-)

The problems starts when I want to install Crysalis:

    * I have the *.iso file on a USB stick, and I have mounted the file by Right-click the file
    * When I start the installation by clicking on the Install-icon I get a message saying "The installer go to execute installation script to install TrueType fonts..."
    * If I click Continue a popup window appears asking if I want to download and install the fonts, if I click Yes as shell window comes up named OWB font downloader, and it says it connect as it shoudl but an error message comes with Unsupported Scheme. A new popup comes up with "Failed to fetch font "andale32". OWB wont work"
    * After this I have to choose partition where I installed Morphos, and I choose Sys: click ok
    * A new window comes up, a shell window saying unable to open archive, operation failed etc.

And after this nothing happens, apart from that I cannot use Morphos since it repeats to ask for libraries that does not exist!!

I am in a bit of panic here, I have installed MorphOS 5 times already today :-(

I hope someone can shed some light :-)

Well if it can't download the font, it obviously can't install it and the installer fails.

The real error here is that Crysalis does it's install a bit backward (installing app before all files needed are there) and doesn't clean up after a failed install.

You could also just install a clean MorphOS and than use TheGrinch to install only the SW you really plan to use.

    Hi,

Thanks for quick replies, really appreciated :-). Well, maybe trying to install the software manually, I wanted to use Crysalis so I got a good start with what software needed. Any recommendation of which software that would be handy to have?

    Thanks,

Grunch does short descriptions for every entry and can also remove SW that didn't turn out as good as it sounded.

As "what SW would be handy to have", that offcourse depends on the size of your hands ;)

Or what those hands are planning to do with MorphOS.

    Hi chgo73,

sorry for this bad start with MorphOS, it's my fault, the old version of the pack (3.9.2) didn't install correctly OWB fonts (now it's ok).

I have just removed this old version from MorphOS-Storage.

Thanks to test this new version :

    Chrysalis_3.9.3_beta3.iso

    I think now it's a pre-final version ;-)

I applaud Papiosaur for all of your hard work in creating and maintaining the Chrysalis package, but the installation script has often had bugs, and caused problems for me (and I assume many other users). Grunch, on the other hand, has been wonderful, if only more software developers would use it, to allow installing and updating their software on MorphOS.

I wonder if it might not be better for Papiosaur to reduce the size of the Chrysalis package, but include support for Grunch to install many programs as separate downloads, with the user being able to choose what gets downloaded and installed, instead of the huge package that Chrysalis has become?

Edit: I understand that this would complicate the installation script greatly, and that writing the installation script has not been your strongest talent in the past, so my suggestion is probably counter productive.

Still doesn't work OK for me, I still get an error regarding downloading FONTS for OWB even straight after I've just freshly installed MOS v3.9, and then try to install Chrysalis Pack from the '.iso' file from a Mac partition (Dual-Boot HDD) where I downloaded the '.iso' to the Mac partition for convenience.

If I click on the installer requester failure to download the FONTS, it then continues and installs the rest of the pack, but when I try to install the 'Ultimate 68k Pack' I get to the point where it requests the "Chrysalis_3.9.3_beta2" disk be inserted, but I am using the 'Chrysalis_3.9.3_beta3.iso' and even if I try to assign the disk it then states an error has occurred and that You need 50MB to install the Ultimate 68k Pack - well seeing as I've more than 40GB to install the pack into that is definitely seems to be a terminal script error.

    @NewSense and chgo73,

I have corrected the script to download m$ truetype fonts needed by owb. It now uses the last version of wget. I gave here an answer but I do not have the time to search for it. Ask to Andreas Wolf to find it. Papiosaur created an archive at morphos-storage. Here is the link, http://www.morphos-storage.net/dl.php?dir=Network%2FWeb&file=Download_Fonts_for_OWB.lha. Replave the old script with the new one in owb directory and copy the latest wget in c: or replace in owb/datas directory the old with this one.

Thanks Brumiga. I've not re-tried installing the Chrysalis Pack since earlier today, regarding the OWB Font issues, but thanks. I'll try to report back on that later, unless someone else does so in the meantime. :-D

However, I presume the "Install Pack Ultimate 68k 1.4" still has the problems I reported earlier today? :-?

I was able to install the "Install Pack Ultimate 68k 1.4" just fine, as far as I can tell. I had to assign Chrysalis: to Chrysalis_3.9.3_beta3: in order to get it to install.

However I'm not sure what to do with it. I copied all of my roms to sys:emulation/euae/Rom (or whatever it was) but don't know what it's supposed to do now. :)

Thanks a lot esc for your return! I have understand the problem.

Into the installation scripts, it search Chrysalis: but the name of the volume mounted is the name of the ISO...

Please to rename the ISO file to "Chrysalis.iso" before mount it...

About Ultimate pack for 68k, you must install it after to have install WB 3.1 into sys:Emulation/E-UAE/Harddisks/Workbench and copy Amiga Forever ROM into sys:Emulation/E-UAE/Roms/

After you can lauch Whdload game and ADF & DMS via Ambient:

I edited your link above so that it's a click - and it's passed to another browser window for opening at the URL supplied

MorphOS Storage -> E-UAE in Ambient video (mp4)

    Unusual background music choice though!
