Compiling ScummVM

Hello everybody, I'm new to MorphOS and pretty much to Amiga related computing in general. Right now I'm trying to compile the latest version of ScummVM on MorphOS. I hope you can help me with my questions:

    1. Is it even possible to simply do a compile of the software or is it necessary to make adjustments to the code?
    2. Not surprisingly, configure gives me a lot of error regarding missing libraries. I managed to install SDL via the PowerSDL package, however, I now fail to get configure to recognize the Vorbis libraries. Where do I have to put these so the script can "see" them?

Looking forward to a great time here at the Zone as a happy Morpher!

    Hi!

ScummVM is a mega project, in the past it was cross compiled. So better look for a newbie project...

@Valsu, If you're new to MorphOS/Amiga related stuff, you should first consider getting some insights about the internals (search for 'RKRM amiga' for a start).

One does not simply just make ./configure && make && make install on MorphOS (add your favorite meme here).

Even if MorphOS has some kind of POSIX layer to help porting stuff from the rest of the world, each port requires a bit (or a lot of) tweaking. Our POSIX layer (iexmul) is just good for console stuff.

Also, if porting stuff can be entertaining, I would say doing native stuff (ie using original system API) is even more entertaining.

Anyway. I wish you success in porting ScummVM.

Ok, your answers cleared up some things for me. Sadly, I myself am not really a coder. So this probably means waiting until somebody takes on porting current ScummVM versions to MorphOS...

Valsu : ScummVM v1.9.0 isn't yet available on MorphOS but have you dropped an eye on http://fabportnawak.free.fr/scummvm/ for older versions (see 1.7.0) ?

Tcheko : very good answer !

Thanks, I already have 1.7 installed. Guess I will add some money to that 1.9 bounty soon :-)
