    What window? A shell window?
Then you have probably started a program in your user-startup without the ">NIL:".

Could you maybe show us a picture of your screen?

I get a partially open window, (compact window) sometimes after my system has locked up/frozen. Usually that will not re-occur if you open another device, like another partition or folder within that partition, and then close it, and then warm reboot.

Try that, and let us know the result.

I am not sure this should happen anyway, but it does, if it's the same problem that I occasionally have when I get a system lockup/freeze.

I have had that problem as well with my last hd, the system tried to load a background picture that was broken.
Changing the harddisc solved that problem.

Please report the message inside the window.

You can try to change the name of your wbstartup for a test - just to see if it is a file on startup that causes
    the popup.

And maybe disable your background picture.

    greets
    and merry christmas
