sorry itix, but asking questions is the second or third step,
first i have get into the topic, with some docs.

But there aren't any simple examples for mui.

Progrmming for Mos/mui is very hard in comparsion
to qt4/java because of lack of good documentation.

You could try the Wayback Machine.

You are right. Well, many years ago I wrote simple example application for MUI: Simple Calculator which was also on MDC. It is a start but as usually developers are not good at making good docs.

We probably need DocWiki or something...

Oh, I almost forgot. There are also
    Calculator 2,
    Calculator 3,
    Calculator 4 and
Calculator 5 examples. The fifth example is most advanced and the first example is just simple one.

Maybe I should propose a bounty for translating and updating this ;-).

I already tried the Wayback Machine, no joy. What we need to do if the info isn't backed up is contact the authors directly so we can get the MUI tools and information again. Anyone recognise these names (and know if the people are still active on any Amiga boards?)?:

I found this link after searching a bit. Seems like there may be some good examples. I'm at work so I cannot open the files right now.

    Edit:
Taking a closer look at the files on this site it appears to be a mirror of Aminet. It might be nice to go through the examples and create a document or web site showing all the examples and how to use them. Perhaps that can become my life's mission. If only I could get more then a half hour a day to work on this stuff. :-P With all that said ShInKurO's book is coming along nicely and is also covering this material.

You managed to find an Aminet mirror, have a look here for a better overview.

    @HenryCase

You should take a look there as well, you will find some files from the sites listed on the SASG page. I don't know what your problem is with IRC, but if you need any (immediate :)) assistance, that is probably the best place to go.

It's like eliot said, IRC is okay but I'm not going to expect anyone to hold my hand from start to finish in creating a MUI app, code line by line beside me. Even if someone was willing to do that, what about when another MUI newbie comes along, they're going to need similar assistance, and the IRC conversation isn't likely to be stored, so it's duplicating work for those in the know. Much better to have pre-written resources and be able to ask questions after trying to understand them yourself.

I've seen into 3+ lessons many examples about each MUI class, I don't believe I'll write about that because I'm concentrated about general aspects and many other important parts of MUI programming which are difficult for a beginner... However I believe that kind of lessions are good, if my guide and that guide would be in english we can join them, we can obtain a good referring to MUI...

    very good examples, thx!

Wee will really need a Wiki or doc with examples like Java or qt.
Autodocs are not stae of the art.
It's hard work, but if the mos community want to get new developers, it's
essential. I am also waiting for new sdk and hopefully integration
    in Cubic IDE.

IMO the examples coming with MorphOS SDK or MUI SDK itself are good and show most aspects of MUI. class1/2/3.c should just be extended a bit to show how to add custom methods/attributes to a custom class.

How out of date are the mui files on AmiNet? Are they even worth using as a reference? Are there implications in publishing the documentation as HTML on a web site?

They are not update from very long time, so you can't find all good MUI basis programming into muidev archive...

While not updated for years they are still useful. Only problem with those old examples is they wont compile out of the box with GCC.

It will be a good learning experience to get the examples to work. Perhaps I could document it on wiki page or something?
