Check out this on eBay if you are interested in getting an eMac to run MorphOS2.5 on.

Maybe some of you can go in together as a group buy?

Nice find! But they're the last model G4 eMac and they have radeon 9600 gfx which may be an issue for MorphOS.

Am I right in thinking that the 1.25GHz eMac is now supported because, at a board level, it's not too dissimilar to a Mac Mini?

    Good point!

There are many 1.0GHz & 1.25GHz eMac's on eBay for even lower prices.

I was hoping that the team had written a driver for the 9600 & 9600 Pro video cards while working on the port to the G4 PowerMac models.

Edit: The release notes for MorphOS2.5 only stated that it had not yet been tested on the 1.42GHz eMac model, not that it does not work on that model for certain.

Educational variants of "supported" eMacs should work too :). Would be nice if the seller could check MorphOS on eMac :).

You ought to be careful when purchasing eMacs and shouldn't look only at the CPU clock. While the supported generation can have 1.0 (education market variant) or 1.25 GHz, these clock rates are no ample hint. Older generation with Radeon 7500 can also have 1.0 GHz, and last generation with Radeon 9600 can also have 1.25 GHz (education market variant).

Apple never shipped a G4 PowerMac with Radeon 9600. The 9600 was released by ATI only after Apple introduced the last G4 PowerMac. But gfx card question can hardly be a problem regarding a computer where the gfx card is interchangeable. Thus even the last G4 PowerMac, which Apple shipped with Radeon 9700 (or some nVidia) card, may not require a complete Radeon 9700 (or even nVidia) driver to be supported regarding both 2D and 3D graphics. After gfx card change to a fully supported one, that is.
According to geit (*), MorphOS supports the Radeon 9600 in 2D mode. So MorphOS on the last eMac generation *should* work in 2D mode.

Is the Radeon 9600 agp card pin compatible with Peg2? If so we should be able to use the driver on peg??

As I recall 9600 cards require a different voltage than the Peg2 will supply, some 9800 card might still work.

    What?
I have a ATI 9800 AGP just laying around here. Is it possible to use it in my Peg 1 you say? Its lightyears faster then my ATI 9250.

Radeon9800 is supposed to work with MorphOS 2.5 in 2D only mode, though only a few models have been tested.

Right, the voltage is not supported in the Peg2 slot, you can't use it.

The reason the 1.25GHz "2004" eMac is the only supported/tested model is that there was only one test machine based on that config.
The Radeon 9600 is in fact NOT supported in MorphOS 2.5 right now. And even if, the 9200 based model is still the best choice since it also gives proper 3D support (which might include even the older 7500 based models). If there is actual demand for basic Radeon 9600 support, it is very likely that the next release will have at least 2D only 9600 support.
If you get hold of such a machine and can't get the MorphOS 2.5 CD working, feel free to send an email to our contact address.

Thanks for setting geit's statement straight.

So MorphOS 2.5 may work on a Radeon 7500 based eMac?

It might work but there's a chance that the eMac uses a special mobility version of 7500 which is not supported yet.

I tried a 1GHz based eMac which has the 7500 and all I see is the following:

    Quark/Openfirmware

when I try to boot the CD.
