I wanna buy a MOS-tested Powermac G5. Minimum 2 GHz (or higher, but not water cooled), with Radeon 9800 (pro) 128 or 256 Meg (other good gfx card might be OK too) and confirmed working with MOS (including 3D). The specs for the rest is not as important, but it's a plus if it got SSD.

If you want to assemble such a system for me for a fee that's OK too. I will pay a bonus if the end price is low then. Must ship to Sweden.

    PM me here if interested.

I can try to find a G5 2.0ghz for you. I can find the 1.6 easily. If I find one, I'll let you know. Shipping will be expensive. I paid $150 for my 2.0ghz... The 1.6ghz goes around $129/$139 used locally.

I lucked out and got my 2.0s for about $60 a piece. The 2.7s ran me $150ish each.

I actually lucked out and found a nice, perfectly working Powermac 2,7 GHz that I'm currently writing this on :-D

So this thread is officially closed 8-)

Please take the advice of a few people here at MorphZone.org, and disassemble your dual 2.7GHz G5 PowerMac to remove corrosion and re-seal and re-fill the liquid cooling system. Unless someone has already done this within the last year, I would not trust the liquid cooling system of your system and would be very surprised if you do not find any corrosion, or signs of any leakage.

A small investment in maintenance now, could save you lots of heartache and trouble weeks, or months from now.

Thanks for the advice. I will take it for a checkup after next pay day :-)

The last owner used it daily for 6 months without any problems (at least what he says) so I guess it's not in bad shape at least. But sure, I prefer not having a nasty surprise later :-)

Um, I suppose they don't need OSX installed to do this checkup? Just asking :-)

If you ask them to take it completely apart to check for physical leaks and corrosion, I don't see why they would need to even turn it on, but some others have mentioned that when the CPU's are removed and replaced after cleaning, then you may need to run some Apple-MacOSX calibration software to re-calibrate the fans.

I have not yet installed MorphOS3.2 onto my own dual 2.7GHz G5 PowerMac, but when I took it apart to clean the corrosion and replace the "O-rings" to insure it would not leak and begin more corrosion again, I did not have to do any re-calibration of the fans when starting back up in MacOSX 10.5.8.

Good luck with your new (used) MorphOS3.2 system. :-D

Let me know how the 9800 Pro cards works out for you. I have the opportunity to get both.
I was hoping they're similar enough that the Pro would work, even if it's not listed as supported.

Sorty, I can't help you there. Mine came with a 9600 XT card. Except that Birdieshoot doesn't start for some reason it works really well (the 9600 That is).

If a system is quiet it stays quiet unless you do something wrong during the process.

When e.g. starting with a fan disconnected or a none proper mounted or with air bubbles filled cooling system, the system will notice unusuall temperature and switch to emergency cooling, which means noise, noise and more noise.

Once you reach this point, there is no way back without doing a proper calibration to reset cooling to the best possible way.

Double and tripple checking helps, but everyone should be prepared to deal with proper calibration, when dismanteling their system.
